MLB DFS 8/30/22 – OwnersBox Lightning Lineups Locks

What’s up everyone! We are super excited for the new format now available from our newest partners, OwnersBox Fantasy. This new format is called “Lightning Lineups” and I wrote an article detailing how to win at this format here. They call it the most electric way to play fantasy sports. Essentially, you are presented lineups with sets of three players, and you simply have to choose the lineup that ends up scoring the most points. You have the option to spin for new sets of players as many times as you want, and the more sets of lineups you go against the higher your payout will be. In this daily article, I will be detailing the teams and players I’m targeting. Let’s get to the plays…

Top Players

Yordan AlvarezOur projections have Alvarez as one of the top-overall plays tonight, and I have to agree. For starters, he’s one of the best hitters in baseball and can be played pretty much nightly. Secondly, he has an elite match-up against Dane Dunning. Not only does Alvarez possess massive power numbers against right-handed pitching, but he matches up very well with Dunning. He throws his sinker more than any other pitch to left-handed hitters — while Alvarez is one of the best sinker hitters in baseball. Over the last three seasons, he boasts a .511 wOBA and .405 ISO against the pitch. He also has one career homerun off Dunning in six at-bats. Overall, I think he has a legit case for top-overall batter tonight and getting him in any player set is going to be a huge advantage.

Riley Greene- Greene is another darling of our projections today, matched up against George Kirby. This is actually a tough match-up, I think Kirby is a good pitcher but I’m going to trust the projections here. Greene pretty much has the best underlying numbers on the Tigers against right-handed pitching. Despite lackluster surface numbers — we can see that he has potential with a 92 average exit velocity and .399 expected wOBA. He also hits fastballs really well –a pitch that Kirby throws over 55% of the time. I don’t think Detroit will be a heavy target by many tonight, but Greene can 100% be used in your player set especially when you can get him coupled with another strong projection. In the example below, he’s paired with Steven Kwan who has a top match-up vs Spenser Watkins. New York has a tougher match-up against the Dodgers, who I have no issue fading the Mets on Tuesday.
