MLB DFS 9/16/23 – Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel

Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. This Portal also gives all of your cash and gpp plays as well as our players to fade! We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Tyler Glasnow

This is a big series between Tampa anf Baltimore with big implications on who will be winning the division. Glasnow is rocking a 33% strike out rate against this current Baltimore team. Tyler does give up some hard contact but we should expect him to come out slinging and getting batters out. Glasnow also comes with 10+ strike out upside and even at a 10.8k salary is a very strong play. Averaging around 23 DK fantasy points per game with a ceiling of around 40-45 is exactly the kind of play you want at pitcher.

Corbin Burnes

Going right back to Burnes like we did last week. The Nationals aren’t the easiest matchup but by far not the hardest. They don’t strike out a ton but with an elite arm like Burnes, I tend to push it off. We are talking about a guy with A 33% hard contact rate along with a strike out rate of 25% and an xBA of just .225! This guy has beenhaving a fantastic year and looks good today. I don’t think it’ll be a secret as he should be 25-35% owned but we can get different with out bats.

Building Blocks

Spencer Torkelson

We have an interesting slate here but Spencer is looking like a strong play. With 8 hits in his last 6 games (including a homerun) it’s easy to see why. Tigers are favored to win with 10 MPH winds blowing out against The Angels. Two of Tyler Anderson’s top thrown pithes are the 4 seamer and the cutter. Both are ones that Spencer has found a lot of success with this year and should be able to create offense tonight. Torkelson is sporting  hard contact rate of 52% along iwth getting walked 11%. I like his odds to get on base and create more offense here!

My favorite stack for today is going to be The Cubs against Davies! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Reds and The Tigers!

Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day

The first president to throw a ceremonial pitch was William Howard Taft in 1910!
