MLB DFS 9/3/23 – Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel

Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. This Portal also gives all of your cash and gpp plays as well as our players to fade! We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Tarik Skubal

The majority of the top tier pitching today just doesn’t excite me at all. My first man in is going to be Skubal. Tarik has actually pitched well when healthy, sporting  30% strike out rate along with an xBA of just .213. The Chicago White Sox’s are on tap today and they haven’t been great offensively.  Tarik is only 8.4k on DraftKings which is cheap considering he has 9-10 strike out upside. I am willing to spend down here and spend up on bats on what is looking like more of a hitter slate.

Michael Kopech

Following the theme from above, Kopech is on the other side of Skubal. Stacking both pitchers from one game has its pros and cons but overall I like this strategy today. The majority of games today are being played in 85-90 degree weather with winds blowing out. Kopech has flashed plenty of upside this year, the problem is his floor is pretty low as well. The good thing is that he is only 6.8k on DraftKings which is pretty cheap considering the upside he comes with. Ironically, his best fantasy output of the season came against Detroit way back in June.

Building Blocks

Julio Rodriguez

With cheap pitching comes expensive bats. Julio is worth the price tag here in a matchup with Tylor Megill and the Mets. I don’t think there is a hitter that is batting better than him right now. In his last  games he has 3 homeruns, 10 hits and 8 RBI’s along with a stolen base. This man is simply a cheat code right now. Megill loves his 4 seamer (54.7%) and his Slider (21.2%) which are pitches that J-Rod has crushed this year and has 9 homeruns off those pitches. It should also be around 90 degrees out ith 10 MPH winds blowing out which is deadly when given to a power hitter like this. You can safely lock him in and move on to your next position!

My favorite stack for today is going to be The Mariners against Megill! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Royals and The Rangers!
