MLB DFS 9/5/22 – OwnersBox Lightning Lineups Locks

What’s up everyone! We are super excited for the new format now available from our newest partners, OwnersBox Fantasy. This new format is called “Lightning Lineups” and I wrote an article detailing how to win at this format here. They call it the most electric way to play fantasy sports. Essentially, you are presented lineups with sets of three players, and you simply have to choose the lineup that ends up scoring the most points. You have the option to spin for new sets of players as many times as you want, and the more sets of lineups you go against the higher your payout will be. In this daily article, I will be detailing the teams and players I’m targeting. Let’s get to the plays…

Top Players

Kyle TuckerOur projections  love the Astros tonight, and of their top plays I’m focusing on Kyle Tucker. You can make the case for guys like Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez every night, but Tucker in particular stands out on Monday. Going up against a ground ball pitcher in Martin Perez, getting the ball in the air is going to be key — Tucker has one of the highest fly-ball rates on the Astros against lefty pitching (44%). He also has a strong history against Martin Perez — in 12 career AB’s he owns a .462 expected wOBA with 2 doubles and 4 other hits.

Manny Machado- Machado is one of the players pacing our projections tonight in a match-up against Ryne Nelson who is making his major league debut. San Diego has one of the highest team totals on the board tonight at five runs and it’s clear we are going to want some exposure to their lineup. Nelson has struggled mightily at times at Triple A this season and it’s tough to expect him to navigate this Padres lineup. Machado has some of the best numbers on the team against right-handed pitching and is one of the highest upside players on tonight’s slate.

Lars Nootbaar- Nootbaar seemingly catches fire every end of season for the Cardinals, and he’s done so once again in 2022. He’s sporting a 38% hard-hit rate and 47% fly-ball rate over the last 14 days, backed up by a 131 wRC+. He has a strong match-up tonight against Anibal Sanchez, who continues to look like a ghost of himself. Nootbaar has the highest ISO on the Cardinals against right-handed pitching and will continue to be a target of mine as the season winds down.
