MLB Jock MKT Plays (5/24/22)

Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

5/24/22 Top Buy

Aaron Judge, New York Yankees

Potential Bid: $5.50

Break-Even Point: 31st

If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Judge recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $5.50 per share for him. He needs to finish 31st in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.

For example, if I buy 1 share of Judge at $5.50 and he finishes 31st in this field, I make my $5.50 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $19.50). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $4.50). It’s that simple.

I missed out on Judge’s double-dong Monday, but we can go back to the well tonight against Bruce Zimmermann. I’ve noted a few times this season, this is the best version of Aaron Judge we’ve ever seen, and it’s clear that he is motivated after turning down the $200M offer from the Yankees before the season. He ranks first in barrels, as well as ISO and second-overall in wOBA. We know he has massive power against left-handed pitching, so the spot really couldn’t be better tonight. Zimermann has been better this season, but he still allows a lot of hard-contact to right-handed batters and Judge matches up very well against his pitch mix. I don’t like to cite BvP, but Judge has seen Zimmermann a lot the last few seasons resulting in a .584 expected wOBA against him. He continually will project as a top-overall play, and he’s my number one buy on Tuesday.

Secondary Buy

Alek Thomas, Arizona Cardinals

Potential Bid: $3.70

Break-Even Point: 45th

Arizona was a popular target on Monday night, and they have another high-run total tonight vs Jo Heasley. Heasley has a very limited big league sample, that has resulted in more walks and than strikeouts. He looks overmatched at this level, so grabbing shares of a few Arizona hitters could be a smart strategy tonight. Thomas has been great since getting the call to the majors — this was one of the best hitting prospects in baseball and he’s looked the part early on leading the team with a .384 wOBA. He has the pedigree, and the power to really smash this price range if he has a good game. He’s the top value tonight, and you can pair him with shares of other Diamondbacks hitters against a pitcher that walks a lot of batters.
