MLB Jock MKT Plays (6/12/22)

Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

6/12/22 Top Buy

Bobby Witt Jr, Kansas City Royals

Potential Bid: $5.50

Break-Even Point: 31st

If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Witt recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $5.50 per share for him. He needs to finish 31st in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.

For example, if I buy 1 share of Witt at $5.50 and he finishes 31st in this field, I make my $5.50 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $19.50). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $4.50). It’s that simple.

Witt continues to break out for the Royals — he’s looked more and more comfortable at the plate as the season has wore on, and owns a really solid batted ball profile over the last 14 days including 45% fly-balls. He also has some of the best numbers on this team against right-handed pitching posting a .344 wOBA and .244 ISO in the split. He matches up with Dean Kremer today, who has been one of the worst pitchers in baseball since the start of last season. We haven’t seen a ton of Kremer in 2022, but over 138 plate appearances vs right-handed batters since the start of last season he is allowing a huge .401 wOBA and .286 ISO.

Value Buy

Rowdy Tellez, Milwaukee Brewers

Potential Bid: $4.00

Break-Even Point: 42nd

Tellez is the exact type of hitter that we like to target for value, given that he has slate-breaking power and does have the ability to finish any given slate as the number one overall player if he hits homeruns. Milwaukee matches up with the right-handed Paolo Espino today, and Tellez owns the highest ISO on the team against right-handed pitching this season with a .253 mark. Espino throws mostly fastballs to lefties, a pitch that Tellez owns a .513 expected wOBA against with 48% hard-hits.
