  • Pretty bad slate if I’m being 100% honest, but that won’t stop the Karma crew from producing winning cores and content. This slate is very focused on the pitching- I really like Mad Max Scherzer because of the elite K% upside that he flashes. The Tampa Bay Rays are middle pack in K% vs RHP but I still think that Scherzer hasn’t completely found his groove yet. He’s had a few nice starts but has mixed in some subpar starts as well (3 starts giving up 4+ runs) but his strikeouts have been at an elite level as usual. This should be a nice upside play with a decent floor due to the leash he has, I always expect a 6+ inning start from him regardless of the amount of runs he’s giving up, unless it is something just insanely crazy. As stated in the last article with Cole vs the Rays, I really don’t like attacking them unless it is with an elite K% pitcher, in this case it is with Scherzer. I am hoping for 6 IP, 8-9Ks, and 2-3ERs with a win.
  • Another cash option I like that has safety is Zac Gallen. Gallen has faced the San Fransisco Giants twice this year, where he’s compiled 13 IP, 11Ks, 2 ERs, a win and 2 quality starts. This is a very safe play for me and I like him in cash games for sure. I prefer Scherzer in GPPs because he has the K upside, but I think the Rays do get to him for a couple of runs.
  • In terms of bats, I like the Toronto Blue JaysJordan Montgomery is a pretty decent pitcher but he’s been still trying to find his groove, just lasting 2/3 of an inning last start, giving up 4 runs. I like this Blue Jays lineup vs lefties, it is just a shame that Teoscar Hernandez isn’t in the starting lineup today. Instead, I’ll focus on Grichuk, Vlad Jr., and Gurriel Jr. Overall, this slate doesn’t really scream out “high powered offenses vs bad pitchers”, but I’ll also be looking to the Houston Astros to round out my lineups.
  • That’s my mini-breakdown for the day! I hope you guys enjoy, let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!
