Over Under 2/2 – Kansas City Chiefs/Denver Broncos
Patrick Mahomes finally showed that he’s human last week, but his passing yards prop increased for this game. It’s a bit odd given the matchup. The Denver Broncos are allowing their opponents to throw for only 196 yards per game in 2019. In a tough game last week, Mahomes still managed 273 passing yards. As you’ll see below, I expect Denver to try to control the clock with their rushing attack, leading to limited opportunities for Mahomes. The latter is also dealing with an injury that has seemingly limited him, and he could struggle to produce an elite number of yards in his toughest matchup of the season.
The Kansas City Chiefs don’t feature an elite defense, but they have been reasonable against the pass. That isn’t the same against the run, as they are giving up 5.2 yards per carry, which ranks second to last in the NFL. Flacco has recorded less than 215 passing yards in 3 of his last 4 games, while Denver relied heavily on Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. The Chiefs are only -3 point favorites in this game, suggesting Denver has the ability to keep it close. Without Flacco needing to throw throughout the entire game, he won’t see enough attempts to hit the over in this play.
