Slate Thoughts:

  • The Pac-12 returns tomorrow, and brings us a really nice game between USC and Arizona State.  Both of these teams feature stud quarterbacks in Kedon Slovis and Jayden Daniels.  On this slate, both of these guys come in at very nice price points.  First off, Slovis will be the QB I look to start my cash builds off with.  Slovis had a phenomenal season last year, and in this offense led by Graham Harrell, he should take his game to the next level.  Slovis has three stud WR’s to throw the ball to.  St. Brown, Vaughn and London are all really good receivers, and all of them are priced reasonably low, compared to their production.  My favorite WR is St. Brown, but if you want to save a little cash, Vaughn and London could be considered.
  • Jayden Daniels is only priced at $6700.  Daniels is extremely talented and showed an extremely high ceiling last year.  I love stacking this game, as I expect it to go over the total of 56 that it is sitting at right now.  Darby makes a nice stacking option with Daniels in this matchup.  USC does have a new DC this year, but I still expect them to struggle a little, especially since this is their first game of the year.  I like Daniels to take advantage of this revamped USC defense.
  • Well, it is time for my weekly UNC write up.  I love UNC this weekend.  I do expect that they will destroy Duke this weekend, so it may limit their ceiling a little bit.  However, if Duke is able to keep this game somewhat close, Howell, Brown, Carter and Williams should be able to put up some really nice stat lines.  UNC’s offense has been showing some life as of late, and when they are clicking, they can score tons of points.  I have no idea what is wrong with Newsome this year, but he’s not a bad punt at 4k, if you can stomach him again.  I probably won’t get much Howell in cash this week, but I can see myself getting to some Brown and Carter.
  • Florida will be facing off against UGA this weekend in a game that will decide the SEC east.  UGA has one of, if not, the best defenses in the entire country, which will limit my exposure to Florida.  Kirby has had Dan Mullens numbers in head-to-head matchups between the two.  The one guy on Florida that I think creates a mismatch for this UGA defense is Kyle Pitts.  Pitts is listed at only $6200.  As talented as he is, that price is too low.  I realize that he is not in the best matchup, but UGA will be bringing tons of pressure this week and that will force Trask to get rid of the ball fast.  This works to Pitts advantage.  I think most will look at the matchup and avoid Pitts this week, but I think it is a great time to jump on him at low ownership.
  • Speaking of defenses, Minnesota may sport one of the worst defenses in the country.  It has been pathetic watching this team pay defense.  They have missed assignments all over the place, have had poor communication, and not great tackling.  All these reasons are why I am liking me some Illinois this weekend.  Illinois will be playing backup QB Coran Taylor, and he is min priced.  I will definitely be getting to Taylor in GPP’s this week.  Due to Minnesota’s struggles on defense I think Taylor and Josh Imatorbhebhe can take advantage of them.  Imatorbhebhe has been targeted heavily, and now facing a defense that allows tons of big plays, I can see him and Taylor hooking up early and often this week.  The great thing about this stack is that combined they cost less than 9K in salary!
  • Penn State is off to a rough start, sitting at 0-2.  This week they get to face a Maryland squad, that has looked nearly as bad as Minnesota on the defensive side of the ball.  I think that Penn State is in a nice bounce back spot as a team, and come away with a convincing win vs. Maryland.  Clifford and Dotson make for a nice stack in this matchup.  Clifford also gives you that dual threat ability that we like in our fantasy QB’s.  The other play from Penn State I like is Devyn Ford.  I expect Ford to get a good chunk of work in this game, and if Penn St. jumps out to a big lead, they will turn to their running game to finish the game out.  He is only $5900 and makes for a very solid play at that price point.

Good luck tomorrow guys. Click the link below to join today and gain access to all of our core plays!
