Joey’s Monday Night Football Showdown Throwdown 11/11

Welcome back DFS Grinders to another edition of my Monday Night Football Showdown Throwdown Article. We have an amazing divisional battle for once between the 49ers and the Seahawks. Both teams are looking to finish first in their division so you know they will be playing at the top of their games. We should have a good one tonight, so let’s get right into it.

Vegas Totals

The 49ers are 6 point favorite at home against the Seahawks with a game total of 47.5. I actually like the road dawg to cover this one. Russell Wilson is having an MVP type season and we just saw Murray expose the 49ers defense with Wilson being a similar skill type Wilson should be able to see success.

Seattle

Russell Wilson: He’s my favorite play on the board tonight. Yes, the 49ers defense is one of the best in the league but Wilson is also one of the best in the league at the position. Wilson is having an MVP season and guess what? They just added another weapon to their arsenal in Josh Gordon. As long as he’s not busy getting high on that legal Washington kush Gordon is going to be a huge asset to Wilson leading to even more success. We saw Murray pick the 49ers apart, it seems mobile QBs have more success than pocket passes, this is due to the fact that they can evade pressure and expose the secondary on broken plays. Pressure is key to the 49ers defense and Wilson is one of the best while under pressure. Wilson is posting 8 Touchdowns and 0 interceptions while under pressure, both league bests, while also putting up an adjusted completion % of 72% which ranks 3rd behind only Carr and Cousins. Wilson is seeing pressure on 41% of his drop back ranking third behind Darnold and Jones this game should be no different than his others.

Factoring Josh Gordon

Russell Wilson was already having an MVP type season with an already stacked receiving corp. Now they go and add Josh Gordon since we already touched on Wilson let’s take a look into how the other pass-catchers (Locket and Metcalf) get affected.

  • Tyler Locket: Lockett will slide primarily into the slot with the addition of another outside WR, which is perfect for tonight. That’s where you want to target the 49ers. While in the slot Lockett gets to stay away from Sherman. This is where most teams find success in the passing game. Lockett is Wilson’s top option and this will help both players have increased success  against a top tier defense.
  • DK Metcalf: I will be fading Metcalf tonight. The addition of Gordon will lead to a decrease in targets. 49ers should be able to contain the deep ball which is what DK’s specialty is. Outside that one 88 yard bomb to isabella last week the 49ers have been great at containing the big plays from outside. DK is 11th in the league in percentage of yards from the deep ball (20+ air yards) per PFF with 27% of his yards coming from deep balls. He is not worth the salary tonight with much better options.
  • Josh Gordon: He is on a brand new team and needs to get integrated into the offense within a week of joining the team. Gordon is predicted to play a significant role though even though he just joined a new team. You are getting him at only $7k on FD and $5.4k on DK. HE is definitely worth a punt tonight even in the tough spot.
  • Chris Carson: Carson has a chance to have a huge game right after we say Drake run all over the 49ers. Carson also is largely involved in the passing game which is a perfect way to attack the 49ers. Running backs have been doing great against 49ers but they really don’t have the opportunity to run the ball enough to take advantage of this. Both the redskins and the Cardinals started their first possession running extremely well then just went away from the run. Seattle loves getting the running back involved early and often. Carson will also be involved in the passing game if they are down as well. Raising his floor higher than most RBs that play the 49ers.

49ers Running Backs

We have two choices here, Tevin Coleman and Matt Brieda. Which do you choose? There are two different approaches here, playing one or the other or even playing both. Playing both is a completely viable option. You have a team committed to running the ball all game especially when they are leading which leads to 20+ runs every game between these two guys. What if you only want to play one who do you choose? Well to maximize this you have to figure out game script. Tevin Coleman while seeing more snaps sees fewer runs and more routes run so 3rd down back and if they find themselves losing Coleman will play more snaps. Breida is used more as a runner and less like a passing back is shown by the edge in rushing attempts but lack of routes run and pass blocking snaps. Brieda you can fit into most lines just due to the $2000 discount on both sites you receive. They both have similar floors but the pass-catching upside and the RedZone touches would lean me towards Coleman if you have the salary for both but only want to play one. I love the roster construction of playing both and stacking the Seahawks. You could end up with all the touchdowns of the 49ers, playing both by no means caps your upside like other teams running both RBs.

Absence of Kittle

Kittle not playing adds a potential new element to this 49ers offense we haven’t seen. Kittle is the main pass-catcher on the team, but that all changed with the addition of Sanders. Sanders hopped right into the highest target share on the team, seeing 9 targets. On top of Sanders becoming a top option for the 49ers this will open up other WRs and backup TEs to fill in his 5-8 targets per game. You an roll out back up TE Ross Dwelly who saw the majority of snaps and passing routes while Kittle was out of the game last week. Are able to get him at a nice $2000 salary on DK and min price on FD. This should free up a lot of salary and will allow you to play a top tier play at CPT with the salary you saved.

Props

Props are what I’m known for at Karma and I’ve made my most money in the Fantasy industry playing props. It’s a safer use of your money playing “cash” type props than playing 50/50s on FD/DK for single game especially. Normally I like to play some safe props than play some GPPs on FD/DK.
