Joey’s Monday night Football Showdown Throwdown

Hello DFS Grinders and Welcome back to another one of my Monday Night Football Showdown Throwdown article. After last Monday Night Football in LA we settle back down to earth with this one. We have 2 above average underrated defenses in this one which could lead to a boring grind it out game until this game gets opened up. The Vegas line is currently 42.5 with the Texans as a 4 point favorite.

Studs/MVP Candidates

Deandre Hopkins: He is one of the best Wide Receivers in the league. He started the season with 5 straight weeks of 10 + targets. He slowed down in a couple tough matchups but he should be back to seeing huge volume he. With coutee and Thomas both playing this should open up the passing game very nicely.

Deshaun Watson: He’s one of the top fantasy QBs in the league. His yards haven’t been high which has scared me. If you are choosing between Hopkins and Watson I would lean Hopkins because I’m thinking this game could be low scoring. In low scoring games QB scare me.

Marcus Mariota: In the beginning of the season Mariota was having trouble feeling his hand. So that clearly is an issue for a QB. After being fully healthy he was able to put up back to back 20+ point games. He had a set back last game after injuring his elbow but he isn’t on the injury report so I feel comfortable playing him here.

This might also be a slate that I fade both QBs and add the defenses.

Middle Tier

Corey Davis: He is my top play based one value which makes him favorite CPT play on the board. I don’t think he has the raw points to get you the top overall score. He will have a tough matchup against Johnathan Joseph which could be an issue. I still really like the play because the target share he has in the offense.

Dion Lewis vs Derrick Henry: This is the reason I hate Titans showdown slates. Henry is my least favorite vulture because I never like rostering him. Lewis has busted in 2 straight chalk weeks so recency bias might have people off of him and right to Henry who has been a TD monster. I’m still on Lewis here for a bounce back performance.

Keke coutee: He’s way too expensive for me on DK and the Titans have been pretty good against the slot.

Jonnu Smith: I called this play week 9 and now he is heavily involved in the offense. He has gotten 3 straight weeks with double digits points. I didn’t want to be a touchdown chaser but after seeing 8 targets last week I’m back on board with this play against one of the worst teams against TEs in the league.

Kickers/Defenses

I’ll keep it short and sweat kickers are always in play if you are looking for value. These guys are no more special than any other kicker on most slates.

These are two of the more underrated defenses in the league and both are very in play here. I like the Titans D more than the Texans D. Yes, the Texans is the better offense but the Texans are allowing the 3rd most sacks in the league. Sacks are my favorite measurement of rating defenses for fantasy.

Cheap Tier

Cameron Batson: He is the perfect $200 punt. I think DK really messed him up. I know the stats aren’t there but the snaps are 100% there. I like like to check out all the $200 guys and look at snap count and routes run. He is running 20+ routes in 2 straight games. We don’t need much from him. Technically you only need one or two catches depending n how the game goes. If you want to be able to jam studs he’s your guy. He actually get more snaps than Sharpe who is more expensive. The more I think about he might be my favorite value play on FD as well.
