NFL DFS – Bales’ Favorite StatHero Stack for Week 17

The most important note for StatHero is their scoring system. It’s different from what you’re likely used to, and we need to note what the most important aspects are. Quarterbacks are far and away the most important position, specifically passing yards. They get 0.05 fantasy points for every 1 passing yard compared to only 0.1 fantasy points per 1 rushing or receiving yard. For instance, a quarterback would receive 15 fantasy points for 300 yards passing. He would need 3.75 passing touchdowns to reach that. Running backs and receivers would need 1.50 yards to hit that number. They would need 2.5 touchdowns to score 15 fantasy points.

Tight ends are another major part of their scoring. They will receive 1.5 fantasy points per reception while running backs and wide receivers only receive 1 fantasy point per reception. With StatHero’s current scoring system, it could be a key to stack a team with a dominant quarterback and tight end pairing to go along with the other options on the offense.

The final scoring that could make or break your lineup is the distance bonus. Quarterbacks receive a slightly smaller bonus for long passing touchdowns, while running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends get a bit more of a bonus for touchdowns. Ultimately, you want touchdowns to come from 10+ yards out, which is the distance the bonus’ starts at.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom Brady/Mike Evans/Chris Godwin

Brady’s seen plenty of ups and downs throughout the 2020 season. He’s thrown for 4,234 yards with 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He can occasionally score on the ground, as well, recording 3 touchdowns with his legs. Brady’s caught fire recently, throwing for 300+ yards or 2+ touchdowns in 8 of his last 9 games. He gets an elite matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. They are allowing 287.1 passing yards per game and 7.9 adjusted yards per attempt this season. Atlanta’s given up 30 passing touchdowns through 15 games, as well. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 7 point favorites in a game set at 50 points, and they own an implied team total of 28.5 points.

Evans leads the Tampa Bay receivers, playing 84% of the offensive snaps this season. Through 15 games, he boasts 67 receptions for 960 yards and 13 touchdowns on 105 targets. He’s also coming off of his best game of the season, posting a 10/181/2 line on 12 targets against the Detroit Lions. Evans ranks seventh in the NFL in red zone targets (17), recording 11 receptions for 56 yards and 9 touchdowns. He’s seen 1,344 air yards with an outstanding 12.8 aDOT this season. Overall, Evans has accounted for 26% of Tampa Bay’s air yards. The team already showed they’re willing to give him snaps when the game is out of hand, making him an elite option in their offense this weekend.

Godwin’s another focal point of the passing offense, playing 61% of the offensive snaps for Tampa Bay this season. That percentage is a bit misleading, though, as he’s only played in 11 games. Godwin owns 60 receptions for 707 yards and 5 touchdowns on 77 targets. He’s also scored in each of the last two weeks. Godwin’s been efficient in the red zone, recording 7 receptions for 47 yards and 5 touchdowns on 8 targets. He’s seen 693 air yards with a 9.0 aDOT, accounting for 13.4% of Tampa Bay’s air yards. There are a number of options that you can go in this stack, but pairing Evans and Godwin with Brady makes the most sense.
