3 Best Bets for Fight Night 138

Patrick Cummins (+290)

This isn’t Cummins fight to lose, but the odds are a bit too wide, and we can take advantage of that. Cummins is a wrestler, who comes with reasonable power in his hands. He gets a matchup against Misha Cirkunov, who is a significantly more talented striker. Cirkunov was once seen as an elite prospect before losing his last two fights, but his odds are treating him as if he is that elite prospect. His weaknesses are Cummins biggest strengths, as well. Cirkunov has shown a questionable jaw to go along with poor takedown defense. These odds suggest Cummins has little to no avenue to win, but that simply isn’t the case. While Cirkunov is the better fighter in this matchup, Cummins is a live dog for wide odds.

Sarah Moras (-170)

This fight puts me in an odd position for betting. I don’t feel Moras is a great fighter, but at the same time, I don’t feel Talita Bernardo is a UFC-level talent. One of the biggest factors in this fight could be Moras’ move from Toshido MMA to Xtreme Couture. Moras stated that she never used to have gameplans entering fights, but now she feels extremely prepared. Adding in the talent of Bernardo, or lack thereof, and this feels like a showcase for Moras. She has slick submissions, but I feel she has the potential to win this fight regardless of where it takes place. With that being said, I expect Moras to be aggressive and accumulate quite a bit of control time in an impressive win.

Volkan Oezdemir (-170)

Speaking of odds that don’t make sense, Volkan Oezdemir should be a higher favorite this Saturday. The elite-level talent from Switzerland has steamrolled his way through the best in the light heavyweight division. After losing to Daniel Cormier, he finds himself fighting Anthony Smith, who has put together an impressive winning streak of recent. Smith attempts to tire his opponents, ending fights late, but Oezdemir has the power and skill to finish Smith before that happens. Oezdemir throws with both power and precision, and he throws at a high volume, as well. Smith eats way too much damage inside the octagon to walk away with a win. He may be worthwhile over on DraftKings due to his lower price tag and solid knockout potential, but bet against him on MyBookie and collect the winnings.
