Lineup Optimizer Strategy Picks for MLB 5/17/22

Welcome everyone to our Lineup Optimizer strategy article for 5/15/22. This is a new article I will be doing daily that discusses the stacks and players the optimizer is popping for today’s slate. We are very blessed to have out optimizer powered by SaberSim — and you can get access by clicking HERE. Let’s get into it…

Overview

We have another big slate on tap tonight, with pretty bad pitchers across the board. I’ll be focusing on my usual single entry contests for tonight’s slate. Typically, I like to do three max when I see a clear edge at pitcher and can build three stacks around my favorite pitching combo — but that is not the case on this slate.

Top Stacks

I went ahead and removed the Coors Field game from my run. I also hate pitcher tonight, so I am not manually tweaking pitcher today since most of the good options are all around the same pricing tier.

The sims love two teams tonight — the White Sox and Angels. I can see the White Sox side of things who match up with Brady Singer…but I actually prefer the match-up for the Angels against Taylor Hearn. Hearn has decent strikeout ability, but he can struggle with right-handed batters and he has some big control issues which is great to stack against. When you’re up against a pitcher that walks a lot of hitters, that can be tough to one-off against, but the more free passes he issues the better for your other batters when they come up to bat — it obviously increases their RBI opportunities. LA has been one of the best offenses in baseball, they have power, and their best hitters like Mike Trout, Taylor Ward and Shohei Ohtani all hit fastballs well…a pitch Hearn throws over 50% of the time.

Conclusion

I will be focusing on a full five-man Angels stack including Trout, Rendon, Ohtani, Ward and Chad Wallach if he cracks the lineup.
