MLB DFS 7/23/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Sunday, Glorious Sunday! Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 7/23/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…

Pitcher

There are a good amount of solid options on this slate. I think Gerrit Cole is far away the best one though. With a solid matchup agaisnt Baltimore, he brings a 33% strikeout rate to the table. He has an xwOBA of 0.272 along with hard contact under 40%. The Orioles have actually been decent recently but when Cole is on poinit it simply doesn’t matter. In his two matchups against them, he struck out eleven one game and five the other. I think he is a no brainer for your SP1 and a great fit on FanDuel. For your SP2, options are still pretty open. I am going to chalk up last night as a fluke for Colorado. Brandon Woodruff has been solid nearly all year for the Brewers and gets an elite matchup here. The Rockies have been awful on the road minus an outlier game or two. We know Brandon comes with massive upside. Wth a strikeout rate of 30.2% and a plethora of solid pitches to choose from, he just makes a lot of sense here. If you’re looking to save a little on your SP2, Kyle Wright seems like a good option. He hasn’t been elite by any means but gets a favorable matchup in the Angels. They tend to strikeout a lot and have been pretty mediocre this year outside of a couple of guys.

Aaron Judge

I really don’t think much elaborating has to be done here. This guy is having an elite year and gets a very nice matchup against Lyles and company.  His hard contact rate is north of 60.5. Yes, you heard that right. His stats are like what you see in video games. Lyles has been awful most of the year wiith a strikeout rate under 20% and hard contact 41% of the time. Camden Yards is hitter friendly as well. Judge is coming off three homeruns in two games since the ASB. Aaron is clearly still hungry and trying to get a next level payday. HE is pretty expensive but worth every penny here.

Rowdy Tellez

Jose Urena is on the mound tonight. While his numbers don’t look bad on the surface, he is due for some negative regression. Rowdy is mispriced on both sites here and is a great building block. This is the same guy that went yard three times earlier this year. Priced at $3500 which will be needed with spend ups at both SP1+2. He makes hard contact early half the time. The amount of power this guy swings with is unreal. Tellez is much better against righties and should feast today and is great value play!

Bold Call

JUDGE AND TELLEZ GO YARD!!!
