MLB DFS 8/13/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 8/13/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here.

Pitcher

Jacob deGrom is looking like an easy SP1 for tonights slate. With a matchup against the Phillies who tend to strikeout a lot and are clearly weaker withour Harper. Jacob owns a 35.2% strikeout rate against their current roster. It’s only his third start since coming back but I feel very confident using him in all leagues across all sites here. For our SP2 we have a couple options but Yu Darvish sticks out to me the most. Washington has gotten significantly worse from the Soto/Bell trade. It is rebuild mode 100% which is great for Yu. He doesn’t walk a lot of batters and still has a strikeout rate over 24%. Two other options in different price ranges I like are Lucas Giolito and Logan Webb. Webb gets a great matchup against the Pirates and Giolito is simply too cheap for his upside.

Batters

Juan Soto has been solid since coming over to San Diego. He gets a matchup against former team mate Anibal Sanchez. Now, Sanchez is not good to begin with and add the fact that Soto knows how he pitches. It is a recipe for success. Soto has hard contact nearly half the time and doesn’t strikeout a ton. He actually gets walked over 20% of the time as well which helps him get points while on base. Honestly, I don’t even mind a Padres stack overall! Daulton Varsho should see a lot of ownership but it is 100% warranted. A matchup against Urena in Colorado makes him look very good. He has come back into form lately and hitting well and even better against righties. Don’t be surprised if he goes yard one or even two times tonight!

Bold Calls

SOTO AD VARSHO COMBINE FOR 3 HOMERUNS!!
