MLB DFS 8/28/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Glorious Sunday! Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 8/28/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here.

Pitcher

Max Scherzer is the clear cut option today across both sites. With a date against Colorado at home, he makes for an elite option. Max has a 40.3% strikeout rate against their current roster and we all know how horrid the Rockies are on the road. There isn’t much more you need to know, plug him in on both sites and move forward! We will need a SP2 for DraftKings though. I’m looking at double spend up option here with Justin Verlander. This Baltimore team has been extremely pesky lately and the top of their order has been hitting well. That being said, Verlander has been pitching at a very high level this year and I believe he will be able to stymie this hot streak. He has a 30% strikeout rate against this team and an xwOBA of .259. If you’re looking to save a little bit here, I think Nick Lodolo and Sean Manaea are both viable options with their own matchups.

Batters

Because we have two expensive pitchers we will have to spend down a bit with our batters. Romy Gonzalez has been playing well since being called up for the White Sox. He is leading off today with an average of 6 DK fantasy points in his 6 games in the majors. Gonzalez is minimum priced and with his small sample size, getting hard contact nearly 60% of the time. With a matchup against Zach Davies, I like his chances of getting some hits and even more today. Trey Mancini has arguably been the best pickup since the trade deadline. Hitting four homeruns including a grand slam for Houston in that time span. He gets a date with his fromer team in the Orioles. Austin Voth is on the mound and Trey should know how to hit him just slightly more than others. It is also a bit of a revenge narrative even though I’m sure he was happy to get onto a winning team.

Bold Calls

SCHERZER PITCHES A COMPLETE GAME!
