MLB DFS 8/5/23 – Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings and FanDuel

Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. This Portal also gives all of your cash and gpp plays as well as our players to fade! We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Corbin Burnes

Burnes has been having one hell of a season so far. Striking out batters 25.2% along with hard contact only 32% of the time. Tonight he faces The Pirates and it loooks fantastic. Pittsburgh has looked worse since the all-star break and that should continue here against Corbin. He shouldn’t be a secret at all but he has the best matchup by far making him look more enticing. The Brewers are also heavily favored to win which gies up more points with the W thrown in there. Corbin is my top pitcher today and is a great play across all contests.

Kenta Maeda

There ins’t any particular guy that really stands out for more than another besides Maeda. The matchup against The Diamondbacks is good and he has been pitching well as of late. Sporting a 29.3 strikeout rate with an xBA of just .233. What really draws me into Kenta herfe is his upside. I think he has the potential to strikeout 10+ batters and has come close to it a couple of times this year already. Arizona has been in a little slump and usually play better at home. All aroud solid play here for tournaments or your SP2!

Building Blocks

Mickey Moniak

If you play props at all you know Moniak won us a good chunk of cash last night and I am looking to go right back to the well tonight. The matchup doesn’t look super great on paper but that shoulld jut keep his ownership lower hopefully. If you dig deeper you can see that Moniak matches up pretty well with Kirby’s pitch mix. There are 6 pitches he throws and Mickey has a batting average of .285 or higher on 5 of them.  Moniak is also projected to be leading off the order which is a big plus for the DFS community. I am making it a priority to get him into my lineups tonight for the upside he carries with him!

My favorite stack for today is going to be The Cardinals against Blach! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Angels and The Mets!

Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day

The San Fransisco Giants have the most players in the Hall Of Fame which sits at 24!
