MLB DFS (8/8/18) – Bobby’s Batter Up

MLB BATTER UP August 8th, 2018
  •  This PREMIUM article features top offensive batters per position
  • This includes value plays, upside plays, and contrarian plays
  • Strategic game theory on why we are selecting these batters
  • Advice on the best “Game Stacks” of the day
  • The same players in these articles are the same players you can find in the core of our lineups!

Top Stacks – One of the most important concepts to understand in DFS MLB.  Watch our daily YouTube live podcast for more information on this understanding/mindset.  Keep in mind it is ok to stack 4 guys or 3 from the same team.  This mathematically increases your chances of “cashing” in tournaments.  It isn’t as necessary to stack in cash games (double ups/heads up).  Below is our rankings starting from the best at number 1.

PLAY THE RED SOX! This is one of the best baseball team’s we have ever seen and they are playing against Michael Hauschild who has 14 innings of MLB pitching in his entire career.  They will be chalky but I am getting a ton of exposure.

ALSO for those of you that bet at mybookie.today !! Mash the Nats/Braves O/U of 9.

  1. Nationals (-115) –    Mike “Folty” has been pretty darn good this season.  But something is up with this game and I am going to listen to Vegas here as I think we’re getting a huge edge relative to DFS ownership.  This is a 9 O/U game in a pretty darn good hitter’s park and the Nats have a 4.6 implied run total with Tommy Milone on the mound.  Vegas knows something here and I’m banking on them to be right.  Now let’s look into the strong options from the Nationals who thrive against righties.  Juan Soto is an absolute stud against righties so far in his career.  His wRC+ leads the Nationals at an impressive 149.  He follows that up with .397 wOBA, .227 ISO, and .938 OPS.  Batting in the 5th hole Soto is an elite option with a ton of RBI opportunities coming his way. Matt Adams is next up on the Nationals to stack with an elite .944 OPS, 149 wRC+, and .294 ISO. Obviously don’t forget about this guy in your stack, with Bryce Harper who owns a 131 wRC+, .370 wOBA, and a .276 ISO. Trea Turner has a wRC+ at 102 and provides a TON of SB upside with the capability to swipe 3 bags any given night.  With his wRC+ in the positive here, I’m locking and loading.  I suggest you load up on Nats bats.
          1. Favorite One-Off: Juan Soto
          2. Best Bet for a home run: Matt Adams
  2. Braves (-102) – I’m going to be sticking with this game here as I think it is the game of the slate.  The Nationals ballpark is extremely underrated and these are two powerhouse lineups on a hot night in Washington where the ball will be carrying.  Don’t be scared by Milone’s legendary 2.02 xFIP currently this season.  It’s over the sample size of 12 innings pitched!  He has historically been a pitcher to target with a SIERA well over 4.  His aHC% is also over the 40% mark so we know his current advanced analytics aren’t sustainable.  The Braves are a beast of a team and have a ton of guys with massive upside.  These four guys are projecting out the best in my models and the numbers are backing them.  Charlie Culberson – if in lineup – is an elite play, follow him up with Ronald Acuna, leading off has some of the highest upside on the slate, Adam Duvall is primed for RBI opportunities and is a lefty masher, and Ozzie Albies who also is just a savage against LHP.  Mix and match these Braves players with the Nationals players above and reap the benefits.
          1. Favorite One-Off: Charlie Culberson
          2. Best Bet for a home run: Ronald Acuna
