MLB Jock MKT Plays (6/24/22)

Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

6/24/22 Early Buy

Rafael Devers, Boston Red Sox

Potential Bid: $7.00

Break-Even Point: 22nd

If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Devers recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $7.00 per share for him. He needs to finish 22nd in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.

For example, if I buy 1 share of Devers at $7.00 and he finishes 22nd in this field, I make my $7.00 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $18.00). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $6.00). It’s that simple.

Devers has one of the best match-ups on the slate tonight against Cal Quantrill and the Cleveland Guardians. We know that Devers crushes right-handed pitching, but he matches up exceptionally well with his pitch mix. Quantrill two most-used pitches against lefties are his cutter and his sinker. Against cutters, Devers owns a .200+ ISO while he destroys sinkers to the tune of a .411 wOBA. Overall, the Red Sox have seen a near half run increase in their team total since open and this is clearly a top spot on the slate. I like Devers potential as the highest scorer tonight and he has legitimate HR potential in this match-up.

Late Market Buy

Jose Abreu, Chicago White Sox

Potential Bid: $4.38

Break-Even Point: 39th

Another top offensive spot tonight is the White Sox, sporting a strong 5.2 implied run total against the Orioles. They match up with Austin Voth, who has really struggled to get right-handed batters out. This season, he’s allowing a massive .458 wOBA in the split to go along with a .241 ISO…yikes! Abreu is known for his power, which is exactly what we like to target here. His 46% hard-hit rate vs RHP is tops in the White Sox lineup — and he matches up well with his pitch mix to boot. Abreu is pretty much the best fastball hitter on the team with a .297 ISO against the pitch, and Voth throws it almost half the time to same-handed batters.
