MLB Jock MKT Plays (7/8/22)

Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

7/8/22 Top Play

Juan Soto, Washington Nationals

Projected Rank: 26th

Example: If I buy 1 share of Soto at $7.00 and he finishes 22nd in this field, I make my $7.00 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $18.00). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $6.00). It’s that simple.

This is one of the better games on tonight’s slate for offense, but I think most will be focused on the Braves with with Erick Fedde opposing them. Washington, however, matches up with Charlie Morton who ha struggled with left-handed hitters this season. So far in 2022, he’s allowing a .355 wOBA and .224 ISO in the split. Soto, as we know, might be the best left-handed hitter in baseball. In addition to dominate numbers vs righties, he matches up very well against Morton’s pitch mix as well. Morton relies heavily on his curve ball, which he throws over 45% of the time. Soto has some of the best numbers in baseball against the curve, including a .511 wOBA. This is a great opportunity to get arguably the best hitter in baseball for a lower amount that he typically should go for.

Secondary Play

Rowdy Tellez, Milwaukee Brewers

Projected Rank: 64th

Tellez is way too far down the pre-ranking for me, especially against a right-handed pitcher. Tellez has been absolutely money against righties this season with a team-high .280 ISO and 47% hard-hit rate. He draws JT Brubaker tonight, who is significantly worse against left-handed hitters than righties. Overall, Milwaukee has a solid 5 run team total tonight, and Tellez is the highest-upside option from their lineup.
