Bales’ Bananas – Monkey Knife Fight NBA Prop Picks 2/21/19

Over Under 2/2 – Sacramento Kings/Golden State Warriors

This is an extremely interesting spot. On face value, Stephen Curry seems like a lock to hit the over. The game is set at 240 total points, the Sacramento Kings struggle against point guards, and Curry is averaging 38.5 points per game against them this season. The simple truth is the Golden State Warriors don’t need Curry’s scoring as much when they are healthy. In 10 games with DeMarcus Cousins on the court, Curry is averaging only 24.5 points on 17.4 shot attempts, 10.5 three point attempts, and 3.7 free throw attempts per game. He has only scored 29+ points in two of those games, as well. Curry’s percentages have remained relatively similar, but his role has changed. Is there a chance he catches fire early and exceeds this numbers? Absolutely, but he’ll need to take over as the focal point of the offense for that to happen. Buddy Hield is the scorer for the Sacramento offense, and he’ll need to do plenty of scoring tonight if they want to keep this game close. On the season, Hield is averaging 29.0 points per game against Golden State. More importantly, he’s averaging 5.7 three-pointers made on 10.7 three-point attempts per game against them. Hield could potentially see double-digit three point attempts once again tonight, making him a strong bet to hit the over in what should be a high scoring game.

Play $50 on Stephen Curry UNDER 28.5 points and Buddy Hield OVER 3.5 three-pointers made to win $109.50 (2.19x)

Over Under 2/2 – Houston Rockets/Los Angeles Lakers

I went into this game looking for a LeBron James prop, but couldn’t pass this one up once I found it. Kyle Kuzma had scored 19+ points in each of his last three games, totaling 83 points in those contests. He also saw 20+ shot attempts in each of those games. Kuzma is playing a role of a scorer as James looks to take over the offense more. With James facilitating, Kuzma should continue to get open looks, and he has proven that he can be a dominant scoring option when given the opportunity. This is a big game for the Los Angeles Lakers, who will likely be looking to make a statement by beating a playoff team after the All Star Break. On the season, Kuzma is averaging 22.3 points per game against the Houston Rockets, and there’s no reason to believe that will change for the worst tonight. This total is set at bit low for Eric Gordon. He has made 3+ three-pointers in seven of his last 10 games, including each of his last four. In those four games, he has totaled 41 three-point attempts, and he’ll likely see near double-digit three-point attempts again tonight. This game will likely get relatively high scoring, and the pace of the Lakers could give Gordon a few extra shot attempts.

Play $50 on Kyle Kuzma OVER 18.5 points and Eric Gordon OVER 2.5 three-pointers made to win $125 (2.5x)

Over Under 2/2 – Boston Celtics/Milwaukee Bucks

There are certain games in the NBA that matter to players more than other games. This should be one of them for Giannis Antetokounmpo. He’s playing the Boston Celtics, who were preseason favorites for the East, and currently sit in fourth in the conference. He has dominated Boston twice this season, averaging 31.5 points per game against them. He’s also averaging a healthy 28.2 points per game in Milwaukee. Furthermore, Antetokounmpo was averaging 33.5 points per game in his last six games prior to the All Star Break. This is a game where Antetokounmpo can continue to prove he is one of the best players in the NBA, and I fully expect him to do that. It’s always difficult to trust centers against the Milwaukee Bucks because of the way they space the floor. It somewhat limits rebounding opportunities for centers, but I’m still siding with the over for Horford. He has recorded 7+ rebounds in 10 of his last 12 games, and he’s finally playing big minutes on a near nightly basis. He only recorded five rebounds in his only matchup against Milwaukee this season, but I’m simply siding with the minutes and rebounding rate over the matchup for this play. For what it’s worth, that game was in the middle of rebounding struggles for Horford, as he posted six or fewer rebounds in seven consecutive games during that span.

Play $50 on Giannis Antetokounmpo OVER 26.5 points and Al Horford OVER 6.5 rebounds to win $108.50 (2.17x)
