Thoughts:

Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.

  • Solid 9-game Friday slate tonight so let’s dig into it.
  • There is a clear leverage opportunity on this slate by playing TWO and even THREE possible center eligible players.  By using a combo of KAT at C, Embiid at FLEX, and Sabonis/JJJ at F, you create a VERY low % owned combination due to the restriction of playing those three players.  By doing this, you can freely enter in optimal/chalk plays around this 3-man combo which is the approach I’m taking on this slate where the center position is projecting extremely well from a value perspective.
  • My options to consider using in this 3 center headed monster tonight are (in order):
    • Karl-Anthony Towns
    • Domantas Sabonis
    • Anthony Davis
    • Joel Embiid
    • Jaren Jackson Jr.
    • Rudy Gobert
    • Montrezl Harrel
    • Jonas Valanciunas
    • Omari Spellman
  • A key thing to remember is when game stacking your goal is to capture overtime minutes.  In order for a game to overtime it would mean that the underdog OVERPERFORMS.  Meaning you want more salary allocation, in most cases, from the team that is NOT favored rather than the team that is favored.
    • A good example of this tonight is the Bucks vs the Grizzlies
      • The game has the second-highest total on the slate which makes for a fantastic game-stack opportunity but the Bucks are favored by 10 points.  In order for this game to hit that GPP value we are looking to push us to the top of our contests it would mean that the Grizzlies outperform their salary expectations.  An example of a game-stack here that makes sense from a game-theory perspective would be Giannis (11.2k) from the Bucks and Tyus Jones (3.7k), Jaren Jackson Jr. (6.2k), and Jonas Valanciunas (6.5k).  A situation in where we get overtime here would be the result of the Grizzlies players outperforming and in theory providing more value than you would get from being over-exposed to the Bucks side. However, you still want Bucks players because if the game does go to OT, you benefit greatly from those additional points.  If this game stacking approach isn’t making sense to you just shoot me a message in Discord and I can further explain.  Also, don’t limit this approach to the example above.  You can do this on any of the good game stacks of the night (reference table above for the stacks I’m on).
  • Obviously it is important to stay up to date on what value opens up closer to lock and weigh extreme value decisions (due to rest/injury).
  • Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible.  More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments.  (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
