Thoughts:

Updates to come to this section as we approach lock so continue to check back for more insight.

  • Tonight is a very fun 10-game slate.  When starting off roster construction tonight it is clear to me that Ish Smith is close to a must-play and someone that we want to maximize exposure to.  At 3.6k projected for over 25 DK points, Smith is the clear value play of the slate.  There also is a TON of expensive players that are great pivots so utilizing Smith as a value spot is huge.
  • Speaking of must-plays, if there is one guy I am going to be at least double the field on (if possible), it will be Giannis tonight.  At 11.3k he is essentially a lock to hit value and can easily post a 6-7x game here which is huge for a player price up as high as he is.
  • Once you lock in Smith/Giannis, this is where I believe we can get a little more “different in GPPs”.  My game theory approach tonight would be to lock in Smith and Giannis but then rotating all the other plays on the slate (listed below) around them to differentiate.
  • Below are the players I would consider in your “pool” tonight when building 3-20 lineups.  This is 100% the approach everyone reading this article should be taking tonight.  There are plenty of 3-max, 5-max, 20-max contests to enter.
  • The players I’m using in my “pool” tonight (outside of locking Smith/Giannis) include (in order of preference):
      • Bradley Beal
      • LeBron James
      • Jimmy Butler
      • Bam Adebayo
      • Mortiz Wagner – another value guy you’ll need to fit the studs that I’ll be over-exposed to.  Correlates with Smith.
      • Anthony Davis
      • Buddy Hield
      • Eric Bledsoe
      • Andre Drummond
      • Shai-Gilgeous Alexander
      • Damian Lillard
      • Jonathan Isaac
      • Kevin Love
      • Blake Griffin
      • Justise Winslow
      • Kendrick Nunn
      • Denzel Valentine
  • Obviously it is important to stay up to date on what value opens up closer to lock and weigh extreme value decisions (due to rest/injury).
  • Remember to try to add as much correlation to your lineups as possible.  More games go to OT than you think in the NBA and mini-game stacks are an underutilized strategy in NBA DFS tournaments.  (Again, you can use the table above to identify the game-stacks I’ll be on).
  • If the Knicks/Bucks game doesn’t blowout it could be the nuts game stack.
