Brian’s CBB DFS Top Plays 1/26

Welcome to Brian’s CBB slate breakdown. In this article, I will share a few of my top plays on the slate, and discuss who you should target in cash and gpp contests. If you would like to gain access to our CBB core plays, final thoughts, and premium discord, click here.

Guards

Jordan Goodwin (Saint Louis) vs. Dayton

Goodwin is the second highest priced player on the slate.  He is averaging nearly 44 dk points per game.  He is a phenomenal scorer and a great rebounder.  He is averaging 21 ppg and 13 rpg on the season and is in a very good spot to keep those numbers up vs. a middle of the pack Dayton defense.  I love Cooper who is priced right up there with Goodwin, but I like the upside Goodwin brings with his rebounding ability and ability to get steals.  He also has a much better matchup than Cooper does.

Caleb Love (UNC) vs. Pitt

It appears that Love has finally turned the corner, and is starting to play like the top tier talent he was projected to be when he came into college.  Over his last 3 games he is averaging 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assist and 2 steals.  He has also found his shot, after shooting woefully all year long, his FG% are starting to rise to levels that we expected out of him.  Love should see 28+ minutes of action tonight against an average Pitt defense.  I love targeting this game tonight and can see myself having at least 3 players from this game in my main lineup.

Others to consider:  X. Johnson (PITT); K. Davis (SMU); S. Cooper (AUB); M. Devoe (GT); H. Jones (ALA); E. Harkless (OKLA); J. Crutcher (DAY); J. Ferbes (TEX); L. Nolley (MEM)

Forwards

Justin Champagnie (Pitt) vs. UNC

Justin has the honors of being the most expensive player on the slate, and for good reason.  Since returning from his injury, he has been on FIRE.  Since returning from his injury he is averaging 24 points, 13 rebounds and 3 steals per game.  He has scored 50+ DK points in 2 of his last 3 games.  UNC are typically strong vs. opposing teams front courts, but his high usage rate and ability to block shots and grab steals on defense makes me believe that he is bound for another huge day.  UNC will struggle guarding him due to his combination of length and athleticism.  He is a lock in my main lineup and definitely has GPP upside even at 9.5k.

Garrison Brooks (UNC) vs. Pitt

On the other side of this game we have Garrison Brooks.  He is coming off of a disappointing performance in his last game, but that was mostly attributed to foul trouble.  Prior to his last game he was averaging 33 minutes per game over his last 5, and should see a similar workload in this game.  We watched Jalen Johnson absolutely destroy this Pitt team, something that Brooks is capable of replicating.  I think we get him at a very reasonable price tonight, and will be pairing him with Champagnie in my main lineup tonight.

Jalen Johnson (DUKE) vs. GT

Jalen Johnson returned with a huge game vs. Pitt and then came back down to earth vs. Louisville.  Most of his struggles vs. Louisville was that he was in foul trouble and had an issue turning the ball over.  I am not worried about him tonight, I expect he will bounce back in a big way tonight.  He gets a very good matchup vs. GT.  He has a 29% usage rate and is a very good rebounder.  I expect that Duke will look to run their offense through him tonight, and I could see Johnson putting Wright into some tough situations by pulling him away from the basket.  I love Johnson, and will prioritize him in my main GPP build tonight.

Others to consider:  A. Bacot (UNC); K. Brooks (Kentucky); J. Simms (TEX); O. Sarr (Kentucky); T. Smith (TXAM); M. Wright (GT); F. Hunt (SMU)
