Brian’s CBB DFS Top Plays 1/9

Welcome to Brian’s CBB slate breakdown. In this article, I will share a few of my top plays on the slate, and discuss who you should target in cash and gpp contests. If you would like to gain access to our CBB core plays, final thoughts, and premium discord, click here.

Guards

Marcus Zegarowski (Creighton) vs. St. Johns

Zegarowski is Creighton’s leader in usage, with a rate of 24.2%. He is the primary ball handler and is a really good facilitator, averaging a 24% assist rate. He has started to improve his shot over the last few games, getting closer to his career averages. As long as DK continues to price him around 7k, I will continue to target him. He had 32 DK points last time out vs. St. Johns and I see no reason why he can’t get to that or even exceed that in this soft matchup.

Charlie Moore (DePaul) vs. Seton Hall

Charlie Moore is DePaul’s leader in usage and shot rates. He had a very rough outing last game vs. UConn.  He should bounce back in a big way vs. Seton Hall. Moore plays as many minutes as he can handle, and has the ball in his hands a ton. He is priced below 8k, and I don’t expect that to be the norm, he will be priced over 8k regularly sooner rather than later.

DJ Steward (Duke) vs. Wake Forest

Duke has one of the highest team implied totals on the slate, and a team we will want to get pieces of into our lineups.  Steward showed how explosive he can be in Duke’s last game vs. Boston College.  Steward scored 14 points, pulled in 8 rebounds and had 3 steals.  He was extremely active on both ends of the court.  He came into college known for his ability to shoot the 3 ball.  He only went 1-6 vs. BC, so if he can make half of his 3pt attempts his ceiling is extremely high vs a weak WF team.

Others to consider:  J. Roach (DUKE), M. Coleman (TEX), S. Cooper (AUB), H. Jones (ALA); J. Champagnie (STJN)

Forwards

Ron Harper Jr. (Rutgers) vs. Ohio State

Harper has been spectacular this year, scoring over 21 points per game, while leading Rutgers with a 24% usage rate and a 30% shot rate. Ohio State is not a very good rebounding team, so Harper will have an opportunity to add to his already high ceiling by pulling in some rebounds. He is a very underrated rebounder.  I love the price we are getting Harper at.

Romeo Weems (DePaul) vs. Seton Hall

Speaking of players that have been dominant, Franz Wagner has dominated for this Michigan team all year long. Wagner is averaging 16 points and 7 rebounds per game and also averaging 2 blocks per game.  Over his last 3 games his shot attempts have jumped to around 13 per game. He is shooting over 50% from the field and over 30% from 3. Dickerson carries the highest usage rate on this team with Wagner close behind him, but will have his hands full with Minnesota big man Liam Robbins.  I expect Wagner to see an increase in usage tonight.

Others to consider:  M. Bates (NCST); D. Funderburk (NCST); M. Teague (BAY); S. Mamukelashvili (SH); D. Culver (BAY); E. Liddell (OSU)
