Brian’s CBB DFS Top Plays 12/15

Welcome to Brian’s CBB slate breakdown. In this article I will share a few of my top plays on the slate, and discuss who you should target in cash and gpp contests. If you would like to gain access to our CBB core plays, final thoughts, and premium discord, click here.

Guards

Ayo Dosunmu (Illinois) vs. Minnesota

Ayo is the obvious top play of the slate, and is definitely priced like it. His 10k price tag may be a little to high to fit into my main build tonight, but if I can find the salary he will make it in there. He has one of the highest usage rates on the Illinois basketball team and is averaging 25 points per game. This game is one of the top games to target in terms of fantasy.  If you can fit him in your lineup, play him. He comes with the highest ceiling of any player on the slate.

Marcus Carr (Minnesota) vs. Illinois

Carr is a close second to Dosunmu tonight. Carr leads the Minnesota team with a usage rate of 32%, while also leading them in scoring, averaging 24 points per game. He comes in a full 2k cheaper than Dosunmu. If you are able to get both of these guys in your lineup, great! If you are forced to fade Dosunmu in your main build I would definitely make sure I get Carr in it. His offensive game will be needed to keep this Minnesota team within shouting distance of this Illinois team.

MJ Walker (Florida State) vs. Georgia Tech

MJ Walker is the Seminoles best shooter and usage leader. He comes in at a very affordable 6,200 today. He is playing the most minutes per game for Florida State and is also leading them in scoring, scoring 18 points per game. Georgia Tech is a team that ranks in the top half in pace and the bottom half in defensive efficiency. Walker is a very solid play vs. this GT defense, and especially with FSU projected to score the 3rd most points on this slate

Others to consider: T. Campbell (UCLA); Ty. Etienne (WichSt.); M. Bothwell (FUR); M. McGuirl (KSTATE); B. Rachel (Tulsa); J. Quinerly (ALA); N. Pack (FUR); A. Polite (FSU); J. Juzang (UCLA); T. Harris (ISU); K. Emery-Simpson (Tulsa)

Forwards

John Petty (Alabama) vs. Furman

Alabama comes into this game as only a 5 point favorite vs Furman. Both of these teams average in the top half of the country in pace. This game has one of the highest totals of the slate on it and should provide us a few fantasy relevant players to target. One of my top plays from Alabama is John Petty.  Petty has had a slow start, compared to what we were expecting to see this year. However, we witnessed him have a big game vs. UNLV a few games ago scoring 22 points, 6 assist and 4 rebounds.  He is a player that is capable of contributing in multiple areas besides scoring, such as rebounding, steals and assist.

Kofi Cockburn (Illinois) vs. Minnesota

Kofi can be and is a dominant threat for Illinois in the post. He is an excellent rebounder and can finish through contact. This game environment sets up nicely for Cockburn. He does have an issue with getting himself into foul trouble, which is a big reason why he is only averaging 25 minutes per game.  He stayed out of foul trouble his last time out against Missouri and played 31 minutes. He is especially a good target if you are fading Dosunmu, but still want a piece of this Illinois offense.

Javan Johnson (Iowa St.) vs. Kansas State

Johnson has been playing extremely well for this Iowa State team, leading them in usage with a 24% rate. He is averaging 13 FGA per game and is shooting 44% from the field. This game doesn’t project to have the same type of pace to it as a Illinois/Minnesota or Alabama/Furman game does, but with how involved Johnson is in this offense he makes a lot of sense tonight. He has also shown he can be a great facilitator.

Others to consider:  H. Jones (ALA); C. Smith (UCLA); N. Gurley (FUR); S. Barnes (FSU); B. Koprivica (FSU); D. Bradford (KSU); C. Mounce (FUR); B. Gach (MINN); Rey Iduwo (Tulsa)
