Joey’s NBA DFS Value Plays for Draftkings 01/22/21

What’s up Karma Nation! Welcome to another edition of my Value Plays article. In this article, I will be focusing solely on DraftKings. Always remember, the value on DraftKings is not always the value on FanDuel, or any other site you are playing on. If you haven’t signed up for core plays yet, make sure to do so by clicking HERE. We have daily, weekly, monthly, and season-long packages. You can try us out for as little as $5!

Value is mainly determined by two things: injury news or lazy pricing. A player could be underpriced because salaries came before injury news. A site can also be lazy and not raise the price of a player who has been playing way above their price, and getting the minutes to prove it’s sustainable.

If you are familiar with NBA DFS you know the best value could open up minutes before the slate locks. So, make sure to check back later in the day, the best value plays for the slate may change depending on if we get injury news we were not expecting or that we were waiting for all day. I will be providing an update at the bottom of the article if there is a need for it. There will be times we receive news less than an hour before lock, that is where it is vital to join our discord for free. Whether it is on the free side or the premium side there will always be people discussing injury news and how it has impacted the slate.

DeMarcus Cousins $4,400:

Cousins is a no brainer play tonight at his price with Christian Wood out. We only have one game sample size with Cousins playing without Christian Wood. He was able to put up 40 DK points in 23 minutes of play with a 24% usage rate. In that game, he was competing with both James Harden and John Wall for usage. Without those two and Wood, this should be a game that Boogie dominates.

On top of that Cousins gets a phenomenal matchup against the Pistons. They are allowing the second-most DK points to centers this season. We just saw Capela destroy them last game putting up a 25/25. The Pistons rank 25th in rebounding%, 25th in defensive efficiency, and 25th in pace. That’s a lot of ranks of 25th. Cousins should have no issues reaching value tonight.

The projections portal is showing DeMarcus Cousins as the best value play on the slate and projected for 36.84 fantasy points.

Daniel Gafford $3,100:

The Bulls will be without Carter tonight against the Hornets. This means Gafford will be sliding into Wendell Carter’s role tonight as the center. He isn’t expected to see all of WCJ’s minutes but this should bump him up over 20 minutes. A number he has not seen all season. Last season Gafford saw a wide range of outcomes when he saw more than 20 minutes, ranging from 12 DK points to 32.8 DK points. He averaged 20.7 DK points in those games while reaching at least 15 in all but one game.

The Hornets have been surprisingly good against Centers this season, only allowing the 9th least amount of DK points. The bright spot is, we don’t need much from him at only $3100. Although, the Hornets do lack the ability to stop centers from rebounding. Which is what we like to see from back up centers. The Hornets are allowing 19.0 rebounds to centers per 48 minutes. This should give him a path to reach a double-double bonus. The Hornets are also middle of the pack in rebounding %, defensive efficiency, and pace.

I love the play as long as he is starting* if not switch to who is starting!

The projections portal is showing Daniel Gafford as an average value play on the slate and projected for 13.87 fantasy points.
