Joey’s NBA Value Plays for DraftKings 01/05/2021

What’s up karma nation! Welcome to the very first edition of my Value Plays article. In this article, I will be focusing solely on DraftKings. Always remember, value on DraftKings is not always value on FanDuel or any other site you are playing on. If you haven’t signed up for core plays yet. make sure to do so by clicking soon. We have daily, weekly, monthly, and season-long packages. You can try us out for as little as $5!

Value is mainly determined by two things; injury news or lazy pricing. A player could be underpriced because salaries came before injury. A site can also be lazy and not raise the price of a player who has been playing way above their price and getting the minutes to prove it’s sustainable.

If you are familiar with NBA DFS you know the best value could open up minutes before the slate locks. So, make sure to check back later in the day, the best value plays for the slate may change depending on if we get injury news we were not expecting or that we were waiting for all day. I will be providing an update at the bottom of the article if there is a need for it. There will times we receive news less than an hour before lock, that is where it is vital to join our discord for free. Whether it is on the free side or the premium side there will always be people discussing injury news and how it has impacted the slate.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot ($3.7K):

TLC is probably my favorite value play tonight. He has been dominant since entering the starting lineup and as a tall guard, he should see even more of a bump with KD out. The last time KD was out TLC played 35 minutes not counting OT. Granted, that was without Kyrie as well, but he should easily see 30+ minutes tonight. At only $3.7k he will be one of the samples of my lineups tonight. He should see an increase in usage rate and rebounding percentage tonight, leading to him easily crushing value tonight. According to the Projections Portal, he is the best value play under $4k.

Taurean Prince ($3.3k):

We will most likely see Prince slide into the starting lineup as Kevin Durant will be missing at least 7 days due to quarantine. This is a simple case of a minute’s bump from injury. The last time Durant missed a game, Prince slid into the starting lineup, but only played 18 minutes. He also saw a 25% usage rate. Both of which were still his season-high. Although, he did not see the floor in the 4th and OT. There are rumors circulating of the potential to trade Prince soon so the Nets will really want to showcase him tonight. At only 3.3k he only needs 18+ to hit value. If his shot is falling, he should easily hit that.

JaMychel Green ($3.8k):

This is more of a GPP play compared to TLC and Prince who are great cash plays. Green has seen his minutes increase in back-to-back games. The Nuggets are currently double-digit favorites against Minnesota. Who is probably the worst team in the league right now until they get KAT back. So, we could potentially see some more minutes for Green in a blowout victory for the Nuggets. Green has shown flashes of his three-point shot falling too. As an underrated rebounder, he has several paths off the bench to hit value.

Ed Davis (3.4k):

This is another player popping up on the Projections Portal as one of the top value plays on the slate. He is more of a GPP play like Green in the same game. I don’t normally like playing bigs in potential blowouts as the losing team, but Davis is cheap enough to play. Davis has been one of the best rebounders in the league during his career but doesn’t do much else besides that. He has four straight games of a 25%+ rebounding percentage. The main concern about Davis is that he is not part of the blowout lineup. So, if this game does get out of hand he won’t get to enjoy the bad shooting of the backups’ backups.
