Joey’s WNBA Core Cash Plays Thursday 08/06/20

What’s Up Karma Nation! We had a solid day yesterday again hitting the cash line on both Draftkings and Fanduel for the second day in a row. Excited for tonight’s slate. I’m monitoring Bria Hartley’s injury, that will open up some value tonight, but there already is value on the slate so I don’t care much about it. Not slate influencing in my opinion but could lead to some interesting GPP plays with it being the last game on the slate.

Draftkings Cash Lineup: 170.50 (6-2 on the season)

C. Dangerfield, B. Carleton, A. Wilson, N. Collier, M. Hines-Allen, T. McCowan

I was able to secure 3rd in the Windmill for $700, unfortunately McCowans awful game prevented me from taking it down. If I went the chalk Dantas way I would have gotten second but I loved the pivot off of her for McCowan. Her ceiling was just too nice to pass up with Achonwa out and decreased ownership.

Fanduel Cash Lineup: 177.9 (6-3 on the season)

B. Carleton, L. Clarendon, C. Dangerfield, M. Hines-Allen, A. Wilson, N. Collier, D. Dantas

With the late breaking Fowles news we were able to just hammer the Minnesota players, 4 starters outside of Brown. Then I was able to fit two of my top plays on the slate before the news of Wilson and Hines-Allen which left me with the tough choice to fill the last spot and I went with Clarendon who had a tough game. Luckily Carleton pulled through with the huge game, becoming to third player to get 25+ points and 5+ rebounds in their debut.

Guards

Top Tier

DeWanna Bonner ($11,300): There’s not much to say about this play. I mean it’s DeWanna Bonner, if you can fit her play her. The Sun ended up getting blown out which as Vegas and we all expected was going to happen. The Storm are just too good and the depth for the Sun is nonexistent. The Sun are favorited by 3.5 points so no blow out in the mix tonight. I actually like the Wings covering so I’m expecting a close great game. Bonner will go back to her 40+ games tonight with the Wings struggling defensively.

Mid Tier

Jordin Canada ($7900): With Sue Bird out again for the Storm, they only raised Canada $400. Canada continues to have the highest usage rate on the Storm with Bird sidelined with an injury so let’s go right back to her. One thing I love about Canada that raises her ceiling is she led the league in steals last year, the Dream rank second in turnovers per game as a team and Carter ranks third among guards right next to her back-court partner Laney in turnovers. We should see at least 2 steals from Canada today maybe even push it up to 3 or 4 giving her one of the highest ceilings for guards on the slate.

Cheap Tier

Natisha Hiedeman ($3400): I’m not sure if I would consider her cash playable today especially if Hartley gets ruled out but I love her today. Hiedeman had been covering from Covid over the past couple weeks and it looks like she has finally recovered and got the start last game seeing a career high in minutes with 33 and the first time she has seen over 22 minutes in her career. If you see her starting today and Hartley is out I am plugging her into cash and GPP at that price, it’s just too good to pass up.

Forwards

Top Tier

Breanna Stewart ($11,800): Same with Bonner let’s just plug and play her every slate she is on. Yeah she is expensive but the floor is too good to pass up. Atlanta is awful inside so Stewart should have no trouble scoring at will tonight. If she wants she will see a season high points of 22+. The Dream have no resistance inside the paint, the Dream give up the most FGAs to opposing teams with 34 Field goal attempts per game. While Stewart isn’t high volume inside 8 feet, she should have no issues getting inside today and dominating. The Dream also allow the most FGAs to opposing forwards at 24 feet and out. This is especially where Stewart thrives, she is third in the league at FGA% outside of 24 feet shooting 44%. Only trailing Hines-Allen and Azura Stevens.

Mid Tier

Brionna Jones ($7400): I am going to continue to go back to Jones. I feel like I make the same lineup every slate because the same 6 teams play every other day. Jones has been dominant over the past 2 games and looks to continue against the Wings who just are not good inside. I love pairing her and Stevens on FD.

DK Cheap Tier

Bella Alarie ($5500): I’m going back to the cheap tier for Draftkings because I don’t think you need to get this cheap on FD today and there really isn’t any good options with Alarie being a guard on fanduel. She is also a great play on FD because you are getting a forward at a guard spot. In WNBAdfs forwards are usually more valuable than guards. Harrison has basically become a non factor on the team and her minutes have an inverse correlated with to Alarie minutes. For some reason Harrison still gets the start but she is only getting single digit minutes. I’m expecting even more of a leap for Alarie tonight.
