Joey’s WNBA DFS Slate Breakdown -05/21/2021

What is up Karma Nation, welcome to my very first WNBA DFS slate breakdown for the 2021 season. I will be writing this article on 3 game slates or more. Over the weekend we only had two-game slates so there were no articles. This article will be focusing on my favorite spend-up spots, as well as, those must needed value plays. If you are new to WNBA DFS, welcome and I am excited to have you join the WNBA train.

Atlanta Dream @ Indiana Fever (+2.5)

Crystal Bradford: I would be careful with this play here. While yes, she did see an increase in minutes and fantasy production last game. This was mainly due to foul trouble. Both Carter and Hayes picked but four and five fouls respectively. With the addition of Hayes back into the lineup, I do not expect McDonald to have much of a role in this offense. Game logs can be deceiving. Don’t expect much from her tonight unless we see an injury or foul trouble again.

Tiffany Hayes: Even though she let me down last game, I am going right back to her especially on DK where she is only $6000. Coming off what was probably the worst possible outcome for Hayes she is looking for a bounceback tonight at depressed ownership compared to last week making her a great GPP play on DK.

Teaira McCowan: Unfortunately, we continue to have to pay a premium for her since the last game she had 5 blocks and steals to keep her fantasy points per game at a high. The lack of size for Atlanta is a concern tonight as well saw Jones and then the replacement bigs for the Sky torch them each of the previous two games that the Dream have played.

NY Liberty @ Washington Mystics (-2.5)

Sabrina Ionescu: What else can I really say about her? If you know the WNBA you know she is in play every slate. You pay a premium for a reason but she continues to flash the highest ceiling on the slate every slate she is on and it is not even close. Even though she has the two highest-scoring fantasy outputs of the season she still finds herself 4th in fantasy points per game and 8th in usage rate. She is fadable on Fanduel because she is too expensive but anytime she is under even 12k on DK she is playable and borderline must play in cash.

Betnijah Laney: Ionescu’s partner in crime. Do you know what Sabrina has two double-digit assists games this season? She has the leading scorer in the league right by her side. Laney makes a great correlation play to Sabrina if you decide to pay the premium for her because 100% of her 3 pointers made this season have been assisted on. If you think Sabrina is going to have a great fantasy day make sure to stack Laney as well; double dip those fantasy points.

Tina Charles: REVENGEEEEEE! Another player I love in this game and think is way too cheap on FD. Charles continues to lead her team in FGAs and usage rate. She should be averaging way over 30 FD points per game but disappeared in the second half of the first game leading to a blowout loss. NY has been exposed by bigs two out of the three games they have played this season and expect the same tonight.

Connecticut Sun @ Phoenix Mercury (-3)

Natisha Hiedeman: FD did a good job raising her price so she is unplayable but at only $7800 she falls right into the playable salary range for her production. Hiedeman showed flashes of great play last year and has really elevated her game this season. She is currently first on the team in 3 points attempts and tied for second for most in the WNBA. She is a steal machine that helps lead to easy transition buckets. Plus does a little bit of everything like rebound and assists. The perfect all-around role player that has been a surprise to many for the Sun.

As long as their price doesn’t get too high we have the normal stars in this game that shine every slate; DeWanna Bonner, Diana Taurasi, Skylar Diggins Smith, Jonquel Jones, and Brittany Griner. They all make great plays on both sites but don’t find their way into my main pool of players.

LA Sparks @ LV Aces (-7.5)

Vegas Guards: The main thing I want to touch on in this game is that Kelsey Plum is out for the Vegas Aces. She doesn’t have an injury designation on her name but she is currently on the 3v3 roster playing internationally. So she is 100% out make sure to get her out of your lineups. This gives a big bump to all three guards on vegas. Especially giving Riquna Williams a nice value bump at only 3.9k on FD.

Vegas Bigs: Cambage was able to get a 3-minute bum leading to 16 more fantasy points last game against the Storm. I will continue to be hesitant on her until I see the minutes increase to a point where I am comfortable playing her. That being the case. She continues to provide a huge upside on every slate she is on. With the loss of Candace Parker this year to the Sky, the Sparks are not the same defense. Especially on defense and mainly interior defense. If Cambage’s minutes increase to 25+ she is definitely in play. If they increase over 30 tonight, she has slate-breaking potential.
