What’s up everyone and welcome to Spike’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

Jayson Tatum

The Jaylen Brown news would be nice but either way Tatum looks fantastic tonight. With Horford already ruled out among others, his usage will go slightly up and Detroit doesn’t have anybody who can guard him. Nearly averaging 52 fantasy points a game so far, he will be the focal point of offense again tonight. We have already seen his ceiling of nearly 70 FP and he priced just about 10k. This could turn into a blowout but if it does, Jayson is most likely a big reason why it does.

Damian Lillard

This is slightly more of a GPP play but I really like him tonight. Portland will need him to have a big game to compete with Luka and Company. They got him a lot of weapons last year with the additions of Grant and Hart, not to mention Simons coming into his own. Personally don’t think we have seen his ceiing yet either.  With all thoe additions, his potential assists have gone up which is just more to like about him.

Value Plays

Killian Hayes

Both times somebody has been injured in their starting lineup, Cory Joesph get the start. That being said, Hayes has picked up more minutes. We don’t have a ton of value tonight but he is looking like some of the best. We got him projected for 24FP which is fantastic for his 3.6K price tag. If some of his shots can fall, we could easily see 10x value here. Don’t expect him to be low owned though because it is no secret.

Grant Williams

I expect Grant to pick up a good amount of Horford’s minutes as Detroit doesn’t really play super big. Besides Stewart, their size isn’t an issue. Williams caught fire in the playoffs last year but hasn’t done a lot so far this year. He has a decent shot from behind the arc and can grab boards too. He is too cheap for this role and could pick up bigger minutes should Vonleh or Griffin get into foul trouble.

The great thing about OwnersBox is the super-flex format and it allows for some really unique builds without having to force certain positions into your lineups.

Bennedict Mathurin

Projecting to also be solid value is Mathurin, he is playing big minutes for the Pacers and has been shooting well. They get a watered down Toronto team wihtout Siakam and possibly Vanvleet as well. I expect this game to be competitive until the end and for Bennedict to put up a lot of shots. The downside to him is that besides scoring he doesn’t bring much else to the table. That is a risk I am willing to take on a slate where value is pretty slim though.
