NBA DFS – Tristan’s GPP Plays (12/10/21)

Happy Friday everyone! We have a nice big slate ahead of us, which means there will be low ownership all around.  This is a great time to get those low-owned punts into your lineup for tournaments. Let’s dive into some of my favorite GPP plays for tonight!

Point Guard

Similar to all positions, I want players with the highest upside and the highest floor. Yes we are looking for risky players but we don’t want to take players that can give us 30 or 5. We want generally a low risk/high reward player that won’t kill the entire line if he busts. Starting off, I’m looking at Devonte Graham at 4.9k. The last game the Pelicans played, it went into OT which explains the 38 minutes. Before that he was averaging 30+ each game, and has taken over 7 3s in his L5. This is only a play if he gets hot from the floor, which he has done in the past. If his shot is on, especially in a match-up against a bottom tier team in Detroit, he can hit 30DKP+ tonight. Looks like he has a floor of around 15-17. Other PGs I’m looking at are Davion Mitchell, Cam Payne, Killian Hayes.

Shooting Guard

There are a few SG GPP plays I’m looking at today, with the first being Darius Garland. He has posted two 50 DKP+ games in the last 5, while being completely consistent hitting over 25 DKP+ in the L10 games with a ceiling of around 60 DKP. His ceiling is very high today in this match-up, but something to look out for is Patrick Beverley guarding him. He did perform against tough PG defenses in CHI, UTA, and even in a slow paced match-up against WAS. He is back to a cheaper price of 7.3k and has been smashing ever since Sexton has been out for the season. When he’s on the floor, almost all plays run through him and he is the main playmaker. He also hasn’t gone under 30 mins (even in blowouts) for a long long time. Upside high, floor high. Other SGs I’m looking at are Cam Reddish, Frank Jackson, Tyrese Haliburton

Small Forward

Harrison Barnes came back from an injury after missing 5 games and played 30 minutes in a high scoring affair. He is only priced at 5.4k today in the highest scoring game against CHA that is struggling heavily defensively. With Richaun Holmes out, we can see players that previously played the 4 position move to the 5 for some minutes, making way for more Harrison Barnes minutes. Not only that, but with 30 mins in his first game back, things are looking nice for him to have that increased a little to get it back near to what he was playing before the injury (35-36 mins). Good spot here with a price that won’t completely kill you. (The pivot here is Buddy Hield...but he hasn’t seen a ton of minutes lately, need to see that reverse. Terence Davis has been taking his minutes..) Other SFs I’m looking at are Josh Hart, Kenrich Williams, Timothe Luwawu Cabarot (if he starts)

Power Forward

Cam Johnson is probably my guy here. With Devin Booker being out, he’s seen over 25+ minutes in every single game so far, with over 20 DKP+ produced in each game. His ceiling in the L4 that Book has been out was 33.5 in a close game vs Detroit, and his other hi scoring DKP games have been in close match-ups. I expect tonight against Boston to be a close one as well, and he is actually shooting a ton more without Booker. Scoring over 10+ in the games without Booker, he is scoring above his season average while rebounding the ball a ton more as well. Boston has struggled in the past few games defensively and I think this spot for Cam makes a ton of sense at a cheap 4.6k price tag. Other PFs I’m looking at are Daniel Theis (if you want a 3k punt that can get you 15), Oshae Brissett, Jae Crowder, Chimezie Metu (if he starts), JT Thor.

Center

If Tristan Thompson starts tonight for the absent Richaun Holmes, I might be all in. He’s 3.5k on DK and in 21 minutes last game (after starting 2H) he put up 31.5 DKP. If we do get news that he is starting tonight then I most definitely like him and his upside. He has a high floor in this match-up at around 15, which is just decent for his price. BUT his ceiling is pretty high here especially if he can get the minutes. They were starting Alex Len earlier on for Richaun and I’m hoping they don’t do that here, I’d like to see Thompson start. Other Cs I’m looking at are Nick Richards (if he starts), Nerlens Noel, Evan Mobley, Jonas Valanciunas.
