Updates to come to this section as we approach lock, so continue to check back for more insight.

Hello everybody and welcome back to another DFS Karma Game Theory article! Today there are a couple things to monitor regarding injuries and COVID-19 protocols, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. For injury news, please make sure to check our injury article here! This is a smaller slate with not a ton of injury news, but more so “rest candidates”. Let’s get into it.

  • Let’s dig into it, Check out my NBA First Impression Video to get more insight on the totals and injuries of the day.
  • Damian Lillard, Nassir Little, and Derrick Jones Jr. are OUT- which leaves the Blazers extremely short handed. I expect them to start Simons, Hood, Trent, Anthony and Kanter. This squad needs Carmelo Anthony and Enes Kanter to have BIG nights to keep this game close. Kanter in the past has put up some great numbers vs Embiid but I’m worried tonight might be a little different. However, I still like him because of his ceiling here, they will need him to get in Embiid’s head, and they will need his size, because Giles is the only other big man on the roster. Simons was dealing with a hamstring injury but apparently he’s “good to go” today? I expect him to get a lot of run out of necessity but I hope that hamstring doesn’t flare up again. I think Melo will take atleast 15 shots today, hopefully he’s on one and if he is, he will definitely be one of the top values on the slate due to the volume of shots he has available to him today. This is probably the team you want for your value plays today, and hope they can keep it close.
  • Gary Harris is OUT- this opens up Monte Morris, Will Barton and Michael Porter Jr. Tougher matchup vs the Lakers this time out compared to the last matchup that got PPD due to a false positive covid test. I still expect Barton and Morris to start in the back court but MPJ seems like he has a personal vendetta vs Kuzma, he’s been really aggressive when matched up vs Kuzma one on one (got sidetracked, my apologies). Bottom line, MPJ will be needed for this Nuggets team tonight, they need his offense for sure. Look for the trio of Morris, Barton and MPJ to pick up Harris’s 30+ minutes.
  • Victor Oladipo is OUT- John Wall is back, so it negates things a little for the Rockets players, but I still like Eric Gordon, Christian Wood and John Wall today. They get a nice matchup vs Memphis and another game to redeem themselves after yesterday’s “cruise control” game in which they just came out without their foot on the gas pedal, started off slow and never got it going. They underestimated their opponent, and the Thunder ran off with the blowout win. Today, I expect a much better effort, and hopefully John Wall can get more than 28 minutes tonight.
  • Rest Candidates- Kristaps Porzingis and Joel Embiid are both expected to play at the moment but this can always change. If they are out, look for Josh Richardson, Tim Hardaway Jr, Luka Doncic for the Mavs, and Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and Dwight Howard for the 76ers.
  • Trae Young is QUESTIONABLE- he is on the second half of a back to back and is still a 50/50 shot to play. If he’s out, expect Reddish, Rondo, Huerter and John Collins to pick up the usage. Tougher matchup vs the #1 team in the west in the Utah Jazz.
  • Watch for news up to lock, a lot can change.
    • Notes:
    • Which Blazers player is going to pop off today? Will it be one of their bench guys?
    • Will Trae play?
