WNBA DFS 6-4-19 – Zo’s Slate Breakdown

Today slate is an interesting one with one game in the AM and one at night. Be sure to check back for any updates to the article for the late game

Liberty vs Sparks

Our first game of the day tips off at 11am with the Sparks facing the Liberty without a few key players. Candace Parker, Alana Beard and Maria Vadeeva will all be out again for the Sparks. With Beard out we got to see Sydney Wiese (great value) thrust into the starting line up and play 30 minutes. In her start she didn’t do much but the high minutes is an encouraging sign making her an interesting value piece?

As expected Chiney Ogwumike got the starting nod last game and did not disappoint scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. Facing a weak defensive team and a bit cheaper than her sister she is a great option if you want a piece of this game. Chelsea Gray gets a match up at guard she can exploit matching up against Boyd (who seems to be losing minutes) and rookie guard Durr. Gray has played well in this match up putting up 42 fantasy points last time they played. Lastly a interesting value/GPP play if this game becomes a blowout (as I fully expect the Sparks to win), Riquna Williams could see some extra run if this game gets out of hand or If Wiese does nothing again with her time on the court. Williams is a sharp shooter who can get hot at any moment like Shekinna Strickland did for the Sun this past weekend. She is currently playing close to 20 minutes through 2 games. On FanDuel where she is minimum price she makes for a great GPP play.

The liberty have started the year 0-2 and unfortunately might be 0-3 to end the day. This is a tough match up all around for the Libs as they face off with the Sparks. Tina Charles has picked right back up where she had left off last season as the WNBA leader in usage at 43%. With that said I will only be playing Charles in GPP due to the match up with Nneka as it is not an easy one. With Charles taken out someone else for the Libs will have to step up. Amanda Zahui B could be that person. In her two game last year vs this team she put up 24 and 29 fantasy points. AZB has had a rough time shooting the ball but with her minutes she has a chance to turn it around. Priced low on FanDuel she makes for a great value play and a pivot off of the chalkier Reshanda Gray. Gray has played excellent off the bench and received extra run last time out, but let’s keep in mind most of that was blow-out run. If this gets out of hand we could see a similar situation again.

Again the guard situation for the Libs is a head scratcher as there are just too many guards in rotation. Asia Durr and Kia Nurse are the only two who are seeing consistent minutes above 25 a game. Boyd has yet to see over 20 minutes and has a ridiculous price tag on DraftKings making her a GPP option only. Until we see some consistent with the guards I will be staying away from them except for Ki Nurse as an occasional play.

Lynx vs Storm

The Lynx have started the season off pretty good for a team with a lot of new faces. Out of those new faces Odyssey Sims has emerged as a consistent contributor for the Lynx. Through 3 games she is getting double digit scoring and 5 assist with playing right around 30 minutes. We know we can attack the Storm at the guard position and I will be looking at going right back to this strategy, especially on FanDuel where she is priced at 4900. Danielle Robinson still makes for a great play but Sims beats her just slightly due to pricing. Saturday we saw that Karima Christmas-Kelly was available to play but didn’t see any court time. With the Lynx still missing Seimone Augustus we might get KCK season debut. We don’t know what kind of production we will get with KCK playing making her strictly a GPP play in the event she gets some playing time.

Since her season debut dropping 47 fantasy points Napheesa Collier has struggled to produce. Last time vs the Storm she had 20 fantasy points in 26 minutes but was also in foul trouble. I don’t expect another big game from Collier again as this is still a tough match up and we should expect Clark to play and possibly be matched up with her. Sylvia Fowls has managed to grab double digit rebounds through 3 games this season and last time out we finally saw a scoring outburst. Last time in this match up Fowles failed to meet value scoring 20 fantasy points, making her an interesting play for GPP coming in with possible lower ownership. Dantas has been seeing a steady increase in minutes through all 3 games and has continued to produce more and more each time. If she gets anything close to 25-30 minutes today she makes for a decent play.

Natasha Howard has been the true leader of the Storm with some massive fantasy production to start the season. Her one down game she had was against the Lynx where she only totaled 25 fantasy points in 29 minutes. Just like Fowles this is a tough match up where game log watchers may stay clear of her making her a good option for GPP. Alysha Clark should be back today for tonight game after resting last time out. Priced at just 4800 on DraftKings she is a value play who can pay off that price tag and more if she sees another 27 minutes again.

Jewell Loyd has yet to have her ceiling game and is due for it sooner or later. With a 3 guard rotation again for the Storm due to Zellous already being ruled out puts all 3 guards of the Storm into play. Whitcomb is the only bench guard available leaving Canada and Loyd to play big minutes. Canada is a bit cheaper than Loyd on DraftKings making her the preferred option there, on FanDuel you can take the $100.00 savings for Loyd.
