Joey’s Thursday Night Football Showdown Throwdown

What’s up grinders and welcome back to another edition of my Thursday Night Football Showdown Throwdown article. We finally have what should be a fun potentially high scoring game.

Vegas Lines

The Packers are 5.5 favorites at home against the Eagles with a 45 point game total.

MVP

Aaron Rodgers: This is the game where he gets back on his feet. He is pretty highly projected relative to his performance this season but the Eagle pass defense is just horrible.  Ranking 29th in fantasy points allowed to QBs. Keenum passed for 380 yards and 3 TDs with no turnovers and after Monday’s game that’s a tough stat line to believe (6 turnovers I mean like come on). Matt Ryan put up 320 passing yards and 3 TDs (3 interceptions). Stafford who only put up 201 yards and 1 TD. Stafford just had a rough game with only 2 of 8 passes catchable to Golladay. The Lions had the perfect opportunity blown by a bad QB. Rodgers is a much better QB than all 3 of those guys so he should be able to kill it tomorrow. Rodgers is the safe MVP, Adams may have a bigger ceiling if he ends up catching 2 TDs and have a majority of the receptions on the Packers.

Devante Adams: The perfect buy-low spot tonight. Adams should have a monster game Philly has been torched by WR1s all year. Golladay let us down last week but that was to no fault of his own with only 2 of his 8 targets being catchable. Jones decided to go off instead. The talent with Adams has never been in question the rough start can be attributed to how well the defense has been playing against these poor offenses. No shootouts for Rodgers to try to dig them out off. The Eagles defense is just so bad that Rodgers will just tear them apart.

Carson Wentz: this is the play that you will be tilting in the beginning of the game but it will leap fro you over everyone later in the game. Yes, the Packers defense has been amazing but who have they played; Trubisky, Cousins, and Flacco? Not really a lot of talent there. This is the Packers first real test which could mean lower ownership with people thinking PAckers defense is one of the best in the league. This is their first true test and Wentz even if they are losing can get you to value in the second half if he starts slow which he has every game this season.

Fade: Aaron Jones this is not the Aaron you want tonight in your lineups. Yes, the game script will be in his favor but the Eagles have one of if not the best run defenses in the league. Eagles keep runs behind the LOS at the highest rate in the league and that’s saying a lot with seeing a ton of negative game script and teams running on them.

Mid Tier

Unless someone breaks the slate this is usually the money make spot so we really need to nail this.

Zach Ertz: this man is just way too cheap for his upside. HE was getting double-teamed all last game with the Eagles missing weapons last week I thought that would lead to Ertz getting a lot more volume but that obviously wasn’t the case. Now with Jeffery and Goedert back to full strength, he should be able to get back up to elite status while only being the 3rd highest priced Eagles receiving option.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling: He’s is solidifying himself as the number two in the offense. I know there were concerns that Allison might be the number 2 but that just isn’t the case. MVS is coming off his most targeted game with 10 targets and 99 yards last game. Now he is playing one of the worst passing defenses in the league. I love stacking Rodgers Adams and MVS in one line.

Fade: Nelson Agholor, he is just way too expensive for my liking with everyone back.

Cheap Tier

Dallas Goedert: FD has him at only 5k which is crazy. Goedert ran a route on almost half the passing routes week 1 before his injury and with Jackson out this week still, he should see a little more work than week one. At only 5k he opens the board up to play whoever you really want. He is the perfect punt play tonight and has seen 50% of his targets as deep balls. The price is probably due to playing only 9 snaps last week in his first game back from injury. Negative game script should add more passing opportunities leading to more opportunities for Goedert as well. He’s only 1k on DK which is a steal as well.

Mack Hollins: It is predicted that Hollins should see more of a workload with Jeffery back than JJ Arcega-Whiteside and with him being so cheap that helps you pay up for high ceiling guys at CPT like Adams. He should be starting tonight and not getting a lot of attention that other WRs are getting. For 2.4k he is definitely worth a shot.
