PGA Top DFS Plays: THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson

We finally get back to stroke play for the rest of the season for my Top DFS Plays.

After Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry defeated Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer in a playoff, attention turns toward the next major – the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.

But this week the PGA Tour heads to the Dallas area for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch (par 71, 7,414).

It marks the fourth year which TPC Craig Ranch will play host to the Byron Nelson tournament.

K.H. Lee won the first two years at TPC Craig Ranch, while Jason Day is the defending champion.

Despite its length, TPC Craig Ranch is a second shot course and a putting contest with its relatively flat greens.

Onto my Top DFS Plays for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson:

10K & Above

Jason Day ($10,400)

With Will Zalatoris withdrawing on Tuesday, the 10K field is only Day and Jordan Spieth ($10,900).

Both golfers are easily in my Top 25 on my spreadsheet, but I will not be starting the majority of my lineups with them.

Their floors are too low to make them good plays at their price points.

9K & Above

Si Woo Kim ($9,800)

Si Woo is at the top of my spreadsheet this week as his approach play and par-4 and par-5 scoring make him a solid start for anyone lineups.

But this range is going to be chalky with the limited 10K range. Si Woo is expected to pull in roster numbers in the low 20s.

Five of my Top 10 are also from this range as Stephan Jaeger ($9,200) is second on my spreadsheet this week.

8K & Above

Keith Mitchell ($8,800)

Mitchell’s strong off the tee play and strong long iron makes perfect sense to be a part of my Top DFS Plays.

However, Mitchell’s recent struggles on the putting green will limit him to a couple of my lineups.

Aaron Rai ($8,000) snuck into my Top 10 as his strong play from tee to green and approach game makes him a solid option this week. His weakness, however, is his par-5 scoring (a must this week at TPC Craig Ranch).

7K & Above

Doug Ghim ($7,700)

Ghim leads a group of seven 7K golfers in my Top 25.

Ghim bounced back to make the cut at Corales Puntacana Championship after missing two cuts.

His approach game, putting and par-5 scoring makes him a good option this week.

Davis Thompson ($7,900) is the only other 7K golfer in my Top 10.

Punt Plays

Jhonattan Vegas ($6,900) leads a group of four in the 6K range at the bottom of my Top 25.
