PGA Top DFS Plays: Wells Fargo Championship

Last week was uneventful for my Top DFS Plays

Despite having Alex Noren in most of my lineups, my best groupings only had 4 of 6 golfers make the cut, not a way to win money in THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson birdie-fest. Taylor Pendrith birdied the final hole to win after Ben Kohles had just made a bogey.

We have another elevated event with no cut this week at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,438 yards).

The course at Quail Hollow will give the field a true test in preparation for the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club next week.

The field is missing two key players – Scottie Scheffler and Ludvig Aberg. Scheffler and his wife are expecting baby No. 1, while Aberg withdrew with a knee issue.

Wyndham Clark is the defending champion of the Wells Fargo Championship.

Onto my Top DFS Plays for the Wells Fargo Championship:

10K & Above

Xander Schauffele ($11,500)

With no Scheffler in the field, Schauffele tops my spreadsheet.

His strong all-around game keeps him in the Top 10 on a consistent basis. He has 7 Top 10s in 10 events this season.

Clark ($10,500) looks to defend his title and is expected to be the lowest rostered 10K golfer this week.

Rory McIlroy ($11,800) is a three-time champion of this event.

9K & Above

Sahith Theegala ($9,100)

Theegala is the only the golfer in the 9K range I’m playing this week.

Theegala ranks in the Top 20 in all six stat categories I weighted for this tournament. He’s a Top 20 overall on the PGA Tour in three of them.

Max Homa ($9,400) is the only other 9K golfer that is playable this week.

8K & Above

Tony Finau ($8,000)

Many believe Finau has been mispriced this week.

He’s currently the highest rostered golfer and highest ranked on my spreadsheet in the 8K range.

This group of golfers is the make-or-break range in order to have a big week. The only two I’m ignoring is Jordan Spieth ($8,400) and Russell Henley ($8,300).

7K & Above

Stephan Jaeger ($7,500)

Jaeger should be priced in the upper 8K range this week so we are getting him at a bargain for my Top DFS Plays.

His SG: Tee to green, distance off the tee and par-5 scoring make Jaeger a strong play.

He’s joined in my Top 10 by Akshay Bhatia ($7,500).

It seems he is a good play every week in my spreadsheet because of his strong iron play and putting.

Punt Plays

Kurt Kitayama ($6,800) and Jake Knapp ($6,500) are the only two 6K golfers to earn spots in my Top 20. Both are strong iron players and provide plenty of distance off the tee.
