PGA Top DFS Plays: Valero Texas Open

We are on the cusp of the Masters week, but we have one more tournament to be filled with my Top DFS Plays.

As for last week, I finally took down a GPP during the Houston Open. I won the $2 Chip Shot with a lineup without Scottie Scheffler. I finished with 537 points to edge second place with three golfers with the all four rounds under 70 bonus.

The two-week Texas swing comes to a close with the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) (par 72, 7,438 yards) this week.

Corey Conners is the defending champion.

Onto my Top DFS Plays for the Valero Texas Open:

10K & Above

Ludvig Aberg ($10,500)

For the second straight week, this week is going to be extremely chalky.

My spreadsheet has Aberg as my No. 3 golfer this week. His above average approach game, SG: putting and par-5 scoring make him a solid play despite the high rostered numbers.

Hideki Matsuyama ($10,600) is the only other 10K golfer I will be targeting this week. Matsuyama has been outstanding in his last four starts. He has a win at the Genesis Invitation and three Top 22 finishes.

9K & Above

Byeong Hun An ($9,000)

An is my favorite 9K golfer this week, but several cracked my Top 25.

An is still one of the top drivers on the PGA Tour, but his all-around game has improved greatly over the last two seasons.

Max Homa ($9,900) is my highest rated golfer for the week in this range, while Jordan Spieth ($9,500) is the worth the GPP dart throw if this is one of his up weeks.

I like Matt Fitzpatrick ($9,700) this week, as well, despite his stats being a little under the radar. (I really like him next at the Masters)

8K & Above

Alex Noren ($8,700)

I am not in love with this range this week, but Noren is my best bet for my Top DFS Plays.

Noren is the only 8K golfer in my Top 10. His overall all-around game gives him a chance to put up a good score in any tournament as of late.

He’s coming off a sneaky Top 11 finish last week and has made the cut in all seven events he’s played this season.

7K & Above

Erik Van Rooyen ($7,400)

Van Rooyen is the only 7K golfer to crack my Top 10.

Before missing the cut at THE PLAYERS, he had three straight Top 25 finishes, including a T2 at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.

He is above average for this tournament in SG: off the tee, SG: approach, SG: putting, driving distance and Top 10 in par-5 scoring.

Punt Plays

My spreadsheet loves the 6K range this week as 8 of my Top 25 come from this range, including 5 in the Top 10. Andrew Novak ($6,500) is my top golfer for this field, while Doug Ghim ($6,900) and Davis Thompson ($6,700) are part of the 5 in my Top 10. Jimmy Stanger ($6,000) is one of three upside plays who are not in the Top 25 on my spreadsheet. Both of my upside plays made the cut last week, including Max Greyserman’s Top 10 finish.
