NHL Value Vault 11/12/19

~Time to get excited Karma Nation~

Tuesday night pucks is where it’s at, and there are 18 teams for us to examine for lineup building. While this is not a particularly enticing slate, here are some value plays that just might help you take down a contest or two; and that is exciting!

-Insights and player picks for tonight’s 9 game schedule-

  1. Teams with greatest chance to win: BOS, MON, STL
  2. Highest implied totals: PIT@NYR, FLA@BOS, EDM@SJ
  3. Lowest implied totals: ARI@STL, DET@ANH
  4. Lines to target: BOS 1, PIT 2, MON 2, SJ 1

Offense:

  • Blake Lizotte LA ($2600-DK, $3400-FD) Serving as the 3rd scoring line and top unit PP center, Lizotte is coming off his best game so far with a goal and an assist on four shots at Montreal three days ago. Half that production at this price will boost any lineup.
  • Danton Heinen BOS ($3800-DK, $4500-FD) Plays on his team’s top power play and is a second line winger. I really like that this game has the highest implied goal total. Heinen’s mins. per game have been on the rise, and he scored in his last game.
  • Dominik Kahun PIT ($3000-DK, $3900-FD) Gets time on the Pens 2nd power play which should be busy as the Rangers rank 3rd in the league averaging over 11 penalty minutes per game. Pittsburgh’s third scoring line is underrated and I like Kahun to get on the score sheet tonight.

Others to consider: Kevin Fiala MIN ($3500-DK, $4300-FD)                                                  Gaetan Haas EDM ($2500-DK, $3000-FD)

Defense:

  • Adam Fox NYR ($3900-DK, $3500-FD) My pick of the night to keep his point streak going as Fox as been on the score sheet in four straight, while firing 13 shots over that span. Fox also directs the Ranger’s top power play which ranks 6th best in scoring so far this season.
  • Josh Mahura ANH ($3400-DK, $3600-FD) Anchors the Duck’s second power play unit. Kahura gets to face a Red Wings team that is dead last in defending the PP, giving up a goal over 32% of the time.

Also consider: Radim Simek SJ ($3200-DK, $3500-FD)                                                  Tucker Poolman WPG ($2900-DK, $3500-FD)

Goaltenders: (As of this writing, both are confirmed to start)

  • Connor Hellebuyck WPG ($7900-DK only) Is looking for his ninth win of the season, and has given up two goals or less in each of his last four games. Hockey is all about riding the hot hand, and Hellebuyck seems quite comfortable in the crease right now.
  • Ryan Miller ANH ($7700-FD only) Has won three of his four starts this season, with a 2.30 GAA. Miller gets the best home match up against Detroit who is dead last in the NHL in scoring at just 2.2 goals per game.

Grab a cold one, a comfortable seat and enjoy the Tuesday night hockey. I certainly will.
