Howdy partners! Only one contest and track today on StableDuel. For only $10, you’ll gain an entry into their Parx tournament with an estimated top prize of nearly $200! Monday grinders are generally a little tougher than your weekend warriors, but hopefully, we can navigate our way to a top 10 finish.

High Price Favorites

Ain’t None Lucky $9,400 – Race 4
Ain’t None Lucky comes in from Belmont after a strong 2nd place effort versus tougher foes. As is the case with all maidens, nothing is a sure bet with non-winners. I like the shortening of distance to 6 furlongs, which this horse hasn’t tried since August of 2019. Spending $9,400 on a horse takes a huge chunk out of your salary and you need to make sure the horse will fire for you. This is my strongest opinion of a horse over $9,000, but would not fault you for attempting to save salary. Sour Mash at $3,000 is an intriguing alternative.

Mid Price Plays

Truly a Moon Shot $6,000 – Race 1
Taking a shot on an older horse at a bit of a price in the opener at Parx. I was trying to figure out which horse here I liked best and I settled on 1A. Assuming 1 scratches, I think 1A will be the toughest competitor in this spot. 6F seems to be the sweet spot for this horse that has accumulated 54 starts over his 6-year career. Last out, he fired a nice 2nd place score in a 5-1/2F try on this surface.

Value Plays

Dancing Bull $750 – Race 9
Dancing Bull is lightly raced in 2020 and has yet to really step up in class. However, when analyzing this race, I found there is an obvious speed advantage with this horse that should get out to an open-lengths lead with the possibility of wiring the field. At 12/1, it’s a bet that I like for this horse to hit the board if he can cross over from an outside gate. In his last win (almost exactly a year ago today), he drew the 9 gate and set a BLAZING fast quarter at 21 seconds. He drifted wide down the stretch and won in a photo finish by a head-bob. If this horse runs that race again today, little doubt he wins, but likely will settle for minor awards in this classy of a field.
