Ricky’s StableDuel Strategy – 9/29/20

Today, StableDuel is offering Parx as their lone contest track. Entry into Parx is just $10. I like the track, but I am worried about the weather affecting surface conditions on the track. If we end up with a muddy track, you will want to adjust your stables to locate front-runners, or horses that have eaten mud before. I am available to assist in our free discord channel if that happens to be the case.

If you need a refresher on scoring, please refer back to our debut article that goes a little more in-depth, located here.

High Price Favorites

Collegeville Girl $9,000 – Race 6
This horse normally runs on the NYRA (New York) circuit, which happens to be what I would call my home base. So I’ve gotten familiar with this horse over the years. She’s a good horse and boasts a career 2 out of 3 wins at Parx. $9,000 is a bit of cash to pony up, but in a 6 horse race I find it EXTREMELY unlikely this horse misses the top 5. More than likely this horse is your winner, but the value would be to take a horse underneath unless you have the cash to spare on this one.

Take Charge Tina $9,200 – Race 7
In a loaded field on a track where upsets happen frequently, this is probably one of the safer plays to hit the board of the day. My issue on StableDuel is when you are paying $9,000+ for a horse, you want to make sure that horse wins. I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to use this horse in my stable and make sacrifices in other spots. Just in July, this horse cost double in a claimer race. Dropping to the 10k claiming ranks now, and has already won on this track at this distance makes the horse a decent one to use if you have the salary to do so.

Mid Price Plays

Stormbeam $6,500 – Race 3
7F race is exactly what Stormbeam needs to get back on track after getting in trouble last time out. This race actually has some decent competition and I wouldn’t mind a stack on this race. For a bonus mid-price play, the 6 (Seeking Shamrocks $7,500) is looking for her 4th win in a row over this track at 9 years old! Seeking Shamrocks beat a worse field last time out too.

Value Plays

In Equality $1,000 – Race 9
I really like this horse in this field. The horse has been out since the beginning of this year and it seems like he’s ready to come back. Before being sidelined, this horse had a great 2019 season. In fact, In Equality finished in the top three-9 out of 16 times. For $1,000, I’m willing to take a shot that the horse is ready to come back.

March Screamer $1,000 – Race 10
This horse keeps trying to move up in class but doesn’t quite have what it takes to get over the 20k level. This is a little lower and on the high end of his skill test. I feel better about In Equality in the previous race for this price, but if you need to get another cheap horse, it’s worth a shot here for sure.
