Ricky’s StableDuel Strategy – Indiana Grand 6/13

Happy Monday to all Karma readers! I took the weekend off from StableDuel to focus on some live money tracks for Belmont Stakes and mandatory pool payouts. We’re back in the saddle for racing at Horseshoe Indiana, formerly Indiana Grand as it’s known in the StableDuel app. There is a nice $5 contest or a $25 contest with a $1000 prize guarantee to the top 5 finishers. Indiana was hit with nearly a half inch of rain last night, so we know that the races will be OFF the turf. Hopefully the track dries out and we can finish racing before any more rain hits this afternoon. Lots of angles and value to be found in those races coming off the turf and onto main track. There is NO BETTER TIME than NOW to SIGN UP!

If you’re new to StableDuel, the idea is simple. Select 10 horses to build your stable while staying within the salary cap of $50,000. Horses are assigned prices based on their morning line odds, so you cannot use all favorites in your stable. StableDuel awards points for horses that come 1st – 5th and subtracts horses that finish outside of the top 5. This is why it is crucial to make sure you’re reading our content to narrow in on value horses that we think can get points.

Mid Price Plays

#2 Edens Glory $6,500 – Race 2
I generally dislike these low-level winner of one claimer type races since these horses are generally polished turds, but I’ll take a stab at Edens Glory in the second race at a nice price. This horse has only had ONE race under 6F in his six race career and it was a winning one. I’m not sure why connections keep trying this horse at a mile when its clear he is better suited as a sprinter. This race is a 5.5F race, so maybe just a touch further than he wants, but at this level, I’m willing to take a flyer that he is better than some of these one-for-20+ try horses.

Value Plays

#4 Nighttime Justice $750 – Race 7
Race 7 is one of those races I referenced earlier when talking about the races being washed off the turf today. I think Nighttime Justice offers a really good price for a horse that has shown appreciation for routes on the dirt. This horse is normally run on the turf, but when those races have came off, Nighttime Justice has made the most of it beating up on true turf type horses. In both dirt races at a mile or longer, Nighttime Justice has a win and a second place. We see a wash-off situation here on a mile race and for $750, this horse needs to be in your stables.
#8 Fearless Anna $250 – Race 4
I will admit that this one is a bit of a wildcard and longer shot, but this is truly a really nice horse. I think the $20k claim spot is a little advantageous, as she is normally a $5-$10k horse, but she possesses some good speed. She was hurt in her last race, where she finished in 8th place but prior to that she rattled off 6 straight in-the-money finishes on fast tracks. There are only 6 horses in this race and with StableDuel, you only need to grab 5th or better. I think she’s a good play, although coming off a long layoff after an injury is some concern.
