High Price Favorites

Factor This $10,000 – Race 6
As always when spending up, you need to be sure that the horse is going to perform. With 1/1 odds, this horse has the bar set high. There are a lot of nice horses in this race but assuming pace doesn’t get blown up by Somelikeithotbrown, Factor This is a strong candidate to spend up on.

Admiral Lynch $7,500 – Race 7
Admiral Lynch is not the favorite in this race, but when the gates open there is a good chance that he will go off. A HUGE run in his last outing set lifetime best numbers. If this horse runs that same race again, there is no doubt that Admiral Lynch is getting his picture taken.

Mid Price Plays

Varenka $6,000 – Race 2
With a quick pace, Varenka could find herself in the winners circle at a nice price. She will need to overcome the favorite, Juliet Foxtrot. Juliet hasn’t found a win since a year ago, but is the class of the field. I’m hoping the added blinkers on Varenka will keep this horse closer than appears on paper.

Value Plays

Pneumatic $250 – Race 11
An absolute bargain of a horse comes in the main event. Both Caleb and I cannot understand why Pneumatic was listed at 20/1 morning line. This will be the most popular value horse on the card, AKA – chalk. While I don’t think Pneumatic will win outright, this horse definitely has what it takes to run up a top 5 finish. There is a lot of pace up front in which Pneumatic could take advantage of.

Caravel $750 – Race 4
In a wide open race that has limited speed up front, Caravel puts her 3 for 3 unblemished record on the line. I would hardly call the horse classy, but assuming she can carry the horses up front, points for a 2nd-4th place finish would do well for your stable, and she is only $750.
