MLB Jock MKT Plays (5/10/22)

Jock MKT is fun new way to play DFS. In this article, I’ll break down what Jock MKT is and my favorite MLB buys for tonight’s slate.

What Is Jock MKT?

The simplest way to outline this is daily fantasy sports meets the stock market. You’ll purchase shares of players for varying amounts, depending on how much others are willing to pay for them during the IPO. Once the Live Trading starts, you can buy players that others want to sell or sell your players during the game. Once all of the games have ended, you will receive money based on how well your player performs compared to the field on the Jock MKT app for the night.

5/10/22 Top Buy

Willy Adames, Milwaukee Brewers

Potential Bid: $5.00

Break-Even Point: 34th

If you’re new to Jock MKT, you may be struggling to read what’s listed below the Adames recommendation. Essentially, I’m willing to spend up to $5.00 per share for him. He needs to finish 34th in the field for me to make my money back with the opportunity for me to make more if he finishes higher.

For example, if I buy 1 share of Adames at $5.00 and he finishes 34th in this field, I make my $5.00 back. If he finishes 1st, I win $25 (profit $20.00). If he finishes last, I win $1 (lose $4.00). It’s that simple.

This is an exceptional spot for the Brewers on Tuesday night against Hunter Greene and the Reds bullpen. Greene is a promising young arm for the Reds, no doubt, but he just seems overmatched at the MLB-level right now. HIs fastball isn’t as hard as it as earlier in the season, and that’s not good considering he throws it well over half the time. He’s allowing over a .600 wOBA with the pitch this season, and I’m going to continue to stack against him while he struggles this bad. He’s allowing big-time power to both sides of the plate, and Adames is the Brewers best hitter right now. Ranking top-20 in barrels, he also owns a massive .294 ISO since the start of 2021. He’s also the best hitter in this lineup vs fastballs — with a 59% hard-hit rate vs the pitch. Milwaukee has one of the bigger team totals on this slate and I want shares of multiple players in their lineup on Tuesday night.

Secondary Buy

Tyler O’Neill, St. Louis Cardinals

Potential Bid: $4.50

Break-Even Point: 38th

Kyle Bradish is another pitcher that’s looked over-matched at the MLB-level. This has resulted in a solid 4.5 implied run total for the Cardinals, and forces our attention to their power hitters. It’s a small sample-size, but Bradish is allowing a .300 ISO to right-handed batters with a ton of fly-balls. O’Neill hits the ball hard and in the air — and has one of the highest hard-contact rates on the team vs righties since last season. He also possesses slate-breaking power, which is exactly what we target with these cheaper batters. O’Neill is one of the best buys on Tuesday and is in position for a breakout game.
