Bobby’s NBA GPP Breakdown (12/30/18)

For those of you who aren’t interested in playing NFL DFS in this crazy Week 17 I’ll have a short write-up for today’s players I’m targeting in NBA DFS. Let’s get into my top GPP plays for this slate.   You can access my CORE GPP Plays by signing up for an NBA package at dfskarma.com!

AS NBA is a game where last-minute real-life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second!

The plays below in this daily article are low owned pivots and GPP plays.  This means that these players will be RELATIVELY low owned and ‘contrarian’ relative to the more highly owned, chalky plays of the night.

BALL IN!

Point Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. CJ McCollum: Damian Lillard is going to be one of the highest owned players on this slate, especially in the high priced tier.  A perfect pivot off of him in GPPs is to take a 2k price discount and go with the numero two option on this offense in CJ McCollum.  McCollum sees around a 3-5% usage decrease when compared to Lillard but still plays heavy equal minutes for the Blazers.  I’m willing to take a shot that McCollum has the bigger game here with a 2k price difference plus half the ownership.
  2. Kris Dunn: I’m back on Kris Dunn after Friday where he posted another great game.  As long as Dunn is playing over 30 minutes a night there is no reason he shouldn’t creep back up to the mid 7k range.  This is a buy low spot for Kris Dunn in the “DFS Stock Market” and I want a lot of him tonight where he could post a huge score.

Shooting Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Lance Stephenson: Lance didn’t see the major minutes bump we thought he would when LeBron went down but the gameplan might change with the Lakers losing their last two games without LeBron.  Lance was actually an efficient player in his limited minutes on the floor the past two nights and although he is projected for under 20 minutes tonight I think he’s in for a much bigger workload.  At 4k he could crush this price tag and potentially post a slate breaking score in GPPs.
  2. Dwayne Wade:  Wade is another guy who sees an extremely high usage rate while on the floor but a modest amount of minutes.  However, Wade’s price is adjusted for these factors and he gets a fantastic matchup against Derrick Rose and Andrew Wiggins defense.  Wade isn’t in the trio of games with a high total so you should expect sub-5% ownership on Wade.

Small Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Nemanja Bjelica: Bjelica has set to post one of those massive games we saw last year out of him on the Timberwolves when the opportunity presented itself.  Bjelica now gets a shot to do it again with heavy projected minutes tonight in LA.  This game has the highest total on the board by a lot and you’ll need pieces to take down a GPP tonight.  Bjelica offers 8x upside at 8-12% ownership.
  2. Al-Foruq Aminu: I don’t feel safe about Aminu but this is a huge pace up game and a fantastic matchup.  We know Aminu is going to see his 30+ minutes per game we’ll just need him to spike into the double digits in shot attempts to post a significant score which is something he does.  Based on the matchup I think we’ll get a chance at that big usage game tonight.

Power Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Pascal Siakam: Siakam-GOAT.  Pascal Siakam is becoming one of my favorite NBA players as he continues to prove me right night in and night out.  This guy is a legit good NBA player and is still only 24 years old.  Siakam gets a fantastic matchup against a terrible Bulls frontcourt that he should be able to eat on tonight. Coming off two bad games, his price has dropped a few hundred and ownership will be lower on him.  Don’t miss this LOCK on tonight’s slate.
  2. Harrison Barnes:  All the attention will be on Luka Doncic but I believe his price has caught up to him a bit and no longer merits GPP play until further notice. Barnes, however, has seen his price come down during this tear by Luka and people don’t even realize Barnes hasn’t scored below 10 points in a game since October 28th, the second game of the season.  Given the player Barnes is, at 5.5k, where you are basically guaranteed a scoring floor of around 12 real life points, Barnes provides a massive floor-ceiling combo I’ll have plenty of exposure to on this slate.

Center

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Jusuf Nurkic: While I hate the fact we never really see massive minutes from Nurkic, he does still have 50 DK point upside in his modest workload.  Nurkic is one of the highest usage centers on the slate outside of Embiid and Towns, while priced 3k cheaper he makes for a fantastic GPP play where roster construction leads to avoiding him in most builds.  Prioritize getting him into a lineup and reap the benefits.
  2. Serge Ibaka: This is just a fantastic spot for the Raptors front court.  The Bulls bigs are one we’re going to be attacking big time for the foreseeable future and it would be sharp to be over-exposed to Ibaka on this slate.  Him and Siakam are some of the best plays on the board at very cheap prices.
