Bobby’s NBA GPP Breakdown (2/27/19)

Massive 11 game slate after a week 3 gamer last night.  Let’s crush it. My core had been on fire of late prior to the break so make sure to check that out tonight by purchasing the NBA Core Plays package at dfskarma.com/shop and asking any questions you have in Discord tonight to fill out the rest of your lineup. Make sure as usual to leverage some of my TOP GPP options with a core of chalkier plays. Let’s get into my top GPP plays for this slate.

AS NBA is a game where last-minute real-life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second!

The plays below in this daily article are low owned pivots and GPP plays. This means that these players will be RELATIVELY low owned, and ‘contrarian’ relative to the more highly owned, chalky plays of the night.  I emphasize upside/leverage over ownership, particularly in NBA DFS.

BALL IN!

Point Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Caris LeVert:  Pieces from this Nets game WILL be needed to have a big night tonight.  This slate is massive so we’re going to see the ownership spread out pretty thin with the exception of some cases.  LeVert stands out one of the elite plays at the PG position where he will not see quite the minutes/usage as D’Angelo Russell but has been seeing usage spikes over 25% while coach Atkinson describes him as fully healthy so we should see full minutes.  At 5.8k there is a lot of upside to be had with LeVert in a game with a 237.5 total, the second highest on the slate.
  2. Delon Wright:  Wright grades out very well today where models believe his shooting is going to come back to form on the Grizzlies as he’s continuing to get significant minutes.  Against one of the weakest defensive teams in the NBA, at just 4.1k, if Wright can shoot at a higher clip tonight he should easily go for over 6x.

Shooting Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Joe Harris: Harris is still a name not everyone knows.  The 3-PT champion is now also the sole leader for three-point % this season and is shooting 76% over his last five games from three which is insane.  There is going to be a ton of scoring in this game and it would be no surprise to see Joe Harris score over 20 points tonight.  The 1/2 point bonus on Draftkings is also nice for a player you know will end up with a couple of threes to his name.  Projected for over 30 minutes at under 5k is a fantastic value for Joe Harris.
  2. Brandon Ingram:  Ingram had a solid game the other night in the Lakers in a loss to the Grizzlies where he nearly hit 50 DK points.  Things seem to be looking good for Ingram who is playing much better of late.  At 6.4k with LeBron looking tired on the court we could see some huge games from Ingram in the coming week or two where this team will need him to produce at a high level.  Heavy minutes and an increase in usage should be enough for Ingram to get the opportunity for a huge fantasy score tonight.

Small Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Harrison Barnes:  This price is a bit ridiculous and I’m very surprised to see Barnes projected for single digit ownership, even on a large slate.  This is bound to change but I’m still going to be high on Barnes where he is going to play over 30 minutes tonight while still priced below 5k.  He saw an abnormally low usage amount in his last game which will keep people off of him.  In a 234 total, it shouldn’t be difficult for him to pick up some peripherals and cruise to a big fantasy night.
  2. Bogdan Bogdanovic:  Another King’s player who is severely underpriced in what should be a fast-paced high scoring game.  Bogdan is priced under 5k with a legitimate ceiling of 10x.  He gets a much higher usage rate playing with the second unit and hopefully we get some extended minutes tonight in which the Kings will need scoring.  One of Barnes or Bogdan is going to post a big score.

Power Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. John Collins: This is someone I’m willing to pay up for at 7k at the PF position.  Collins price has come down 1k on Draftkings over the last few weeks and now we’re getting him at a value considering the upside we know is there.  Collins has posted back to back 40 point DK games and he could be getting back into a groove post-all-star break.  Look for the young star to have a big game for the Hawks tonight and cruise to 5x or more on Draftkings.
  2. Dirk Nowitzki: Dirk is someone I’d be willing to take a punt on at the near minimum on Draftkings.  We know he is going to toss up a ton of shots as it’s his last season in the NBA.  He’s played over 25 minutes in back to back games while easily hitting for big value considering his price.  If he’s shooting 10+ times a night he’ll easily hit value tonight.

Center

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Jonas Valanciouns:  Jonas has been posting big games since moving to his new team and producing at an insane fantasy rate of 1.57 FP/min.  Over the course of the past month, this ranks third on the slate for the center position behind just Karl Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond.  With Jonas projected to see around 30 minutes tonight he could post an insane game.  We’ve never really seen him unleashed on a team before and I’m going to be here for it.  The Bulls frontcourt which ranks in the bottom half of the NBA in defensive rating against centers (21.8), will not be able to slow him down.
  2. Bobby Portis:  Obviously with so much exposure to the Nets side of this game we’ll need a player to bring it back with.  Bobby Portis is getting big minutes with the Wizards and any basketball analyst knows he’s a great player.  These are the types of players that absolutely feast on the Nets and unless Ed Davis plays 30+ minutes tonight to match up with Portis, I don’t see a scenario in which Portis doesn’t smash if he gets 30 minutes.  35 DK points is a lock from him with 50 point upside.
