Joey’s Monday Night Football Showdown Throwdown

What’s up DFS Grinders to another edition of my Monday Night Football Showdown throwdown article. We have a rough game between two of the league’s bottom teams. To make it worse the Steelers have one of the best defenses in the league so we could see a very low scoring game, especially from the Dolphins.

Vegas Lines

The 2-4 Steelers are currently 14 point favorites at home vs the Maimi Dolphins. That just shows you how bad the Dolphins have been this season to have a 2 win team be favorited by two touchdowns.

MVP Tier

James Conner: This is just like Aaron Jones last night. Set him at MVP and move on. I like him miles above everyone else tonight. Normally I like throwing a QB in the MVP for the safety but now we can just throw Conner in the MVP and move on. Conner’s usage in this offense has grown exponentially ever since Big Ben went down with injury and Tolmin simplified the offense which led to an increase in touches for Conner. Adding onto that the Steelers have 2 wins this year, in those two wins Conner is averaging 25 FPPG on 18 and 23 touches including 7.5 targets/catches per game.

Ryan Fitzpatrick: If you are feeling crazy you can run Fitzpatrick at MVP, bt WARNING: He is a highly volatile player! HE might get you 5 he could just decide to end up going Fitzmagic against some of the best defenses in the league. He will probably end up on the single-digit side of things espeically against one of the best defenses in the league in one of the hardest atmospheres in the league but he will be low owned (Relatively to showdown slates) if you have the balls to run him in MVP.

Juju Smith-Schuster: This is the other side of the offense you can attack at MVP. Juju has disappeared in this offense since Rudolph started but the talent is there. According to PFF Juju has the best advantage at WR tonight against Jomal Wiltz in the slot. Wiltz is ranked the 4th worst CB in the league according to PFF as well. Juju’s volume hasn’t been there but the talent and matchup is something I can’t avoid tonight and want to get him in a couple of lines tonight even if it’s not in the MVP spot.

Mid Tier

Mason Rudolph: I’m adding him to the mid tier rather than the MVP Tier because I still want to get exposure to him but just not in the MVP spot. He will get you want you want from a raw fantasy points perspective but I just don’t see him being the highest scoring player. He can get you 12 but that’s not what we want from our MVP. Unless the Dolphins end up leading somehow he’s just not the MVP you want. That being said it’s an amazing matchup for him and it’s hard to ever fade a QB in Showdown so get some exposure to him in your Flex spots but get the edge by avoiding him at MVP.

Person Williams: Well we have to sort through these Dolphins WRs to see who is playable tonight especially if the Steelers just go full on slaughter fest. Williams provides amazing value whole also providing the highest upside on the Dolphins offense relative to price. He is leading the team in targets and is second on the team in air yards while leading the team in red zone targets. This leads to great upside potential tonight to get your Dolphins exposure especially if you think the Steelers Steam Roll through them.

Mark Walton: Is it officially Mark Walton time? This offseason we thought BAllage was going to take the reins for Drake when he eventually got traded, but it seems as though Walton leaped Ballage on the depth chart. Walton won’t have the luxury of getting the perfect game script or matchup in his first start but he provides a nice value play of a starting RB get the bulk of touches.

Cheap Tier

Vance McDonald: After getting a lot of hype in the offseason to get a majority of the missing targets that AB left behind, he just produced to the level we thought he would. After the trade for Vannett people got even more down on him especially as the production hasn’t been there, but guess what? This is the time to hop right back on the McDonald train. Vance has seen an uptick back to his normally routes run percentage he saw at the beginning of the season as he fully recovers from his injury causing him to miss a couple of weeks ago. He is coming off a bye week and now he should be fully healthy and ready to tear up a Dolphins defenses who is one of the worst in the league. His production is resulting in a buy-low spot due to his constant routes run percentage and a great matchup. The talent is there and just like Juju he could be overlooked due to target decrease.

Props

Props are what I’m known for at Karma and I’ve made my most money in the Fantasy industry playing props. It’s a safer use of your money playing “cash” type props than playing 50/50s on FD/DK for single game especially. Normally I like to play some safe props than play some GPPs on FD/DK.
