NBA DFS 1/8/21 – Ben’s Building Blocks

Recap of Last Night

Last night was crazy with the amount of injury situations we were monitoring up until lock. I ended up pairing Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic with the Nets value for a score of 308 on DK.

Guard

Caris LeVert- The Brooklyn Nets will once again be without Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant tonight, which means Caris LeVert will once again be one of the top plays on the slate. We’ve seen this situation twice already this season, which has resulted in an average of 55 DK points and a 36% usage rate for LeVert. It is a back-to-back, but it’s also a back-to-back for Memphis and the spread is just one point. They moved his price up for tonight’s slate, but it’s not nearly high enough for the alpha role we will see from him again on Friday.

Nash did a great job staggering him and Joe Harris last night, as Harris was effectively the offense on the second unit. Nash did hint at a lineup change tonight, and is Harris remains on the bench he will likely be featured in my main lineup alongside LeVert.

Forward

Jayson Tatum- I have played Tatum quite a few times this season, and I love the role he has been in this season for the Celtics. Jaylen Brown has been great as well, especially shooting the ball, but Tatum is the team leader in DK points per minute (1.32) heading into tonight’s game. Boston is going to be running a tighter rotation than usual with all of Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams, Robert Williams out and Jeff Teague questionable. This is a big pace up spot with the Wizards ranking first in pace, and I love the ceiling for Tatum here. Since Boston will be one of the focuses of the main slate, I like the idea of correlating them with Russell Westbrook on the other side.

Center

Daniel Theis- With those three big men out, I’m sure you knew this was coming! This situation leaves the Celtics extremely thin in the frontcourt and we should see Theis log as many minutes as he can handle tonight. He isn’t a high-usage player, but he is cheap on both sites and we have seen close to per minute production from him in the past. He is the top value play on the slate for me on Friday night.

We have tons of value and places to spend it on tonight’s 10 game slate. This should be a high-scoring one and a slate where you want to avoid thin plays and attempting to be different just to be different.
