NBA DFS 12/21/22 – Ben’s Building Blocks

What’s up everyone and welcome to Ben’s Building Blocks! If you’ve never read my content before, welcome. To those that have, welcome back. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports during NBA season. This article is designed for me to highlight the top plays of the day. Obviously, things can change rapidly in the NBA with injury news close to lock, so I would be sure to subscribe to our premium package for access to our Final Thoughts cheat sheet, our premium discord channel and my core plays. Our Core Plays product gives you the ability to tail all of our analysts in your contests each night. We do the work for you, and you simply plug and play with our premium Core Plays. With that being said, let’s hop into the plays…

Building Blocks

LeBron James

LeBron is projecting for nearly 50% ownership in our Projections Portal tonight but I don’t really see how you avoid him in this spot. He’s obviously going to take over without Anthony Davis — and the Kings defense is in shambles right now. We’ve seen guys in recent games pour it on the Kings, and they have nobody to really stop Bron from getting what he wants in the paint and at the basket. He will be on the floor as long as the game is competitive, and he is the number one spend up on Wednesday’s slate. I’ll also note than Russ Westbrook is questionable to play — if he’s ruled out then Dennis Schroder would become a top play for me in all formats, as well.

Lamelo Ball

This is not an easy match-up but any means, but I’m going to continue rostering Ball as long as he’s in this low $8K salary tier. He leads the team in usage rate at 27%, and with Terry Rozier doubtful, that number jumps to over 31% with him off the floor. Los Angeles is one of the best defensive teams in basketball, but Ball’s numbers are more indicative of a $10K player with Rozier off the court. Overall, I don’t expect him to as highly-owned as he’s been on previous slates but as long as Rozier is confirmed out…he’s one of my top options on both sites.

Value Plays

Miles McBride

Emerging rookie Quentin Grimes is listed doubtful to play to play, which could result in McBride starting for the Knicks tonight. McBride is not a huge per minute producer, but he should be thrust into a big role with Grimes out and we have him projected for 30 minutes of action tonight. We would obviously feel better about the play if he is confirmed as a starter, so monitor that news up until lock. As of now, he’s projecting as one of the highest-owned value plays tonight.

Moose Moody

We get the same situation as last night for Golden State — Steph Curry and friends are still out but now we can add Klay Thompson to the list of guys that will miss tonight as well. Moody played 32 minutes against the Knicks last night, and should be counted on for huge minutes again. Our projections have him at 30 minutes tonight, and there’s obviously upside for more. There’s also a chance that Ty Jerome starts with Donte DiVincenzo questionable to play. If he’s announced as a starter, he and Moody are two of the top value plays in all formats on Wednesday.

The great thing about OwnersBox is the super-flex format and it allows for some really unique builds without having to force certain positions into your lineups.

Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards has been absolutely crushing with Karl-Anthony Towns out and he is one of our top projected options again on Wednesday. He’s averaged over 50 fantasy points per game over his last three games and Dallas is going to be missing one of their best on-ball defenders tonight. I think he has a sky-high ceiling in this spot – and he’s one of my favorite overall options on tonight’s slate.
